low boost and quad X2, any ideas?

Hey guys,

Looking for some ideas on what to check next. Quad X2 on 60hp setting, fuel pressure at 18-21psi, EGTS are fine when towing (7% grade towing 7500+lbs, 3/4 throttle seeing 1250°F) RP hits 26K psi roughly under full throttle.

Problem is max I see is 38psi boost and as soon as wastegate opens it drops to between 32-35psi. I am under the impression that with the Quad box it should be up in the low 40's under heavy load. I seem to have OK power and mileage is OK....do I really have an issue or am I just expecting to see higher numbers. When I was stock I was seeing 32psi under full loads.

Both the control pod and my Isspro boost gauge read about the same. so I don't think it's a gauge issue unless my gauge is leaking that much air. Since rail pressure is OK that leads me to believe the rail relief valve is OK. I have tightened every hose clamp I could find with an adjustable clamp on it from the turbo to the manifold. The hose from the electronic wastegate to the actual waste gate is a crimp on fitting but if it was leaking the watsegate would open later with higher boost numbers.I am questioning if the spring for the diaphragm on the wastegate is possibly weak? Any other ideas from anyone who has experienced similar? Or is there even an issue?

You may try updating you module to the latest software on Quads website, they released an update a while ago to address low boost

38 PSI max is about right with a Quad box, that is what I used to run. You can check the tightness of your CAC boots to ensure you have no leaks.

Module has already been updated for some time. But thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Spooler, I may just be chasing a problem that isn't there if people are also saying that peaking at 38psi is normal.

Mine with a basically stock system other than a Quad Green Filter intake under heavy throttle seems to peak around 36-38 range. Never been a problem as far as I can see. I tow a 33' fiver so I am usually running either the 45 HP tune or the mileage tune if that has any bearing. Never watched the boost level the one time I tried the 100hp setting.

Thanks again,

I guess mine is in the proper range then...not sure what other guys are always talking about when they say their Quad modules run them around 42psi?

Yeah, you are just fine. Now with my race version, I am seeing around 44psi on the 100hp and 140hp settings at wide open throttle. But, on the 65hp setting, I only see about 36psi at wide open throttle. So, you are good to go.
