Could Quad boost fooler cause low boost code?

Hello. Like it says. When I run my Smarty on the lower levels (below TNT 7), I get a low boost code. Then I have to pull over & clear the code.

I have not thought of it before yesterday, but I wonder if removing the fooler will cure this issue.

Any thoughts?

Thanx.

Im new guy here but I did have the same thing happen to me with similar mods. If my memory serves me correct Bob Wagner said this could happen on light throttle for extiended periods of time. Seem the boost fooler tricks the ECM to allow more boost that being said if your cruisig down the road making say 3-6# of boost but the fooler is reducing this signal so the ECM may only be seeing 0-2 pounds and set the CEL and a code.

It only happened once on trip home, cruiese control on, very flat road, very little throttle variation and I guess the fooler tricked the ECM that the turbo was not making enough boost.. I have not set the CEL since then maybe due to the fact Im towing and boost is in an acceptable range?

Chuck.

whats up john. as far as i know the quad boost fooler sends a signal of a set pressure to your map sensor. allowing you to either fuel harder down low due to the ecm seeing more boost and also allowing you to run higher boost by fooling the ecm into seeing only 27 psi max if i recall correctly. i dont think the boost fooler would throw a low boost code.

Cool beans. I have been on a vacation for 5 days, towed up here to 10k feet, and not one code yet. I have been on TNT level 5.

Thanx for the tips.

I had this code yesterday, first time and my fooler has been in for about 6 months. I also get a low MAP voltage code, more often. I checked my boost fooler and found that one of the pin connectors on the engine side was damaged. Don't know if this is the cause or not.

a loose/bad/dirty connection will cause the code

I've had the same problem several times when towing. I have heard that the fooler can cause the issue, but I can't prove it. It really blows when you are travelling in a convoy and you have to keep pulling over to reset the code.

Any updates?

I have a '07 here doing the same thing.

Flatland, towing, steady state cruise, it throws a code for low boost.
Only started happening when he added the PS66 turbo.
He's running a Smarty. We've added a BD Boost fooler to try and fix it, but no luck.

Today we added a 10ohm, 1 watt resistor, but it threw a code, for boost to high for too long, then limp mode..

Any help would be great! We are at our wits end..

Merrick

Merrick, I had the same exact issues with the 07 dually I used to have. As soon as I put a larger turbo on it I started getting low boost codes and overboost codes and both were happening under normal driving conditions. I never was able to figure it out and that's one of the main reasons I don't have that truck anymore.
