Looking to reduce power--any ideas?
Yes it sounds crazy. I am in the Air Force and moving from England to Louisiana in a month. I have to turn my truck over to the shipping company soon
. I have the Smarty jr. I plan on turning everything down but any other ideas would help. I hate to think about some stranger having a grand old time in my truck. I figure no power no fun. I also thought about loosening a clap on the hose going from the turbo to the intercooler so it can't build pressure also. thought????

Just use the Smarty to turn the PoD down to 50. You'll accomplish your goal without getting your hands dirty.
Be sure and pack the Smarty with your immdiate HHG, and not storage. I would probably carry it with me. You'll need it when you pick up the truck at the port.

Yeah, the smarty. Turn it down to 0, then drive it and see how you like it... play with the PoD function after that. Just make sure it will have enough power to merge into traffic or drive up a ramp.
I would not take the IC boot off, they could tear up the truck like that.

Thanks for the input. I'll just play with the smarty and drop the power. I'll carry it with me so when I pick up the truck I can reload it. That seems cheaper than the Duramax idea--LOL.
I am over at Lakenheath and it can get tight on these small/narrow roads. My mirrors have a lot of tree branch marks on them. I have had to move over so far to the left with on-coming buses and truck that the drivers side wheels were on the edge of the road or on a side walk. Parking is an issue. It took awhile to find a house to rent where I could park it. I don't take it anywhere I haven't been in the wife's car just to make sure it can fit. It's height can be a problem with parking lots. Some have height limitations. Lakenheath AFB sells diesel on base. All parts I order in.
It gets a lot of looks and pictures--especially in France. I was in Germany before and drove it to England. English women love American trucks for some reason. I have had several look at it inside and out around town and also ask for rides.
There are several USA spec trucks here.
I use a USA insurance provider.
For insurance I use USAA. Cheapest option for here but expensive compared to the states. Insurance doubles even with a state side insurance provider.
I imagine because the roads are small and most people drive small cars. If I get cut off they look at me slamming on the brakes and they are eye to eye with my bumper. The fear of 6K+ lbs of truck coming threw their passenger window makes them think twice. Most people give me the right of way.
The road inspection (MOT) has to be done off base because of the weight. They see it as a CLASS III/IV vehicle and it cost a little more to have inspected.
If you need anymore info on bringing a truck here let me know. I'll be glad to help.
I'll try and load some pictures
