Doesn't the ECM limit the engine torque with the brake on and not moving? Let the truck roll a little while slightly pushing the brake pedal then at the same time lift on the brake and hammer the throttle.
I don't do this any more because I couldn't afford to be replacing all the tires I was going through while trying to impress the "non-diesel" gas burner crowd I rum with.
Also maybe you could change the torque management setting on the Smarty.
Oh yeah, don't be mad at me when you're faced with a transmission problem.

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
Hold the brake until you build some boost and let off the go pedal a little then let it rip!
Do that a few times then go to the nearest shop to pull the tranny and replace broken parts!

Ok so after reading this there has gotta be something wrong. When I had my smarty jr on either the 70 or 100 hp settings I could spin the tires from a dead stop without powerbraking, only other mods were afe st 2 intake and straight pipe exhaust.I would think with a smarty sr or tnt or ssr that truck should smoke the tires off the rim without any issues.Anyone care to elaborate?

You aren't mashing the brake pedal to the floor are you? There is a sweet spot with the brake pedal and it's just enough to keep the front end planted. I never had an auto 5.9 but I had a six speed that I could do 1st gear brake stands without even touching that throttle, it was all about the right amount of pressure on the brakes.

You want just enough brake to keep the truck from moving.. Start by foot on both pedals to build boost then slowly let off the brake, the tires should start to spin and if the truck starts moving forward slowly start to apply pressure to the pedal to stop it.
