That looked harder than getting a womens bra off with the shirt still on.

I just stuck mine back in last night - with it out, I didn't notice more whistle, just more "whoosh" sound - but I started getting some turbo bark while pulling my TT - I'm going to leave it in for a while and see if that makes a difference - if not, then it's coming back out. Then it's time to get a new intake.. ;-)

I have avoided this mod for years now, since I have not read of any performance gains. Lately I have been thinking of taking it out. My reasons are that I have heard that turbo bark (which I get more often now hauling a bigger trailer) is reduced, and EGT's may be reduced slightly. Also I have never seen performance turbo's or big rig turbo's with these silencer rings installed...

I removed the ring on my old 04.5 very easily. When I got my new 07 it WOULD NOT come off. I too have a MIA ring and snap ring in place!!!

took mine out and my turbo started barkin. If i was accel. and I took my foot off too fast it would bark. I had to roll out of it slowly. Then with my Toy Hauler it would do it worse if I let off while accel.

2 days and I put it back on. NO MORE BARK.

you can actually split the tube to remove the x pieces and the ribbs. I did mine this last weekend. Take a flat screwdriver and GENTLY split the top off and the x piece and the ribbs come right out. Then epoxy the top back on and DONE. silencer ring fell out at 250 miles, was laying in my driveway. ALso I cut about a paint can sized hole in the bottom of my stock air box. Things sings purty now.

I took out the silencer ring but left the snap ring. Is that okay?? I also was wondering why some of you guys had Holset 2 on your turbos.......mine says Holset 3. Is there a difference???

http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MPC-EP I put one of these in mine, have not taken the silencer ring out yet... I can hear the whistle now. Will taking the silencer ring out void the warranty?

Took me two minutes. I got a pair of dykes, no not those, a hand tool lol. However, grabbed the side of the c-clip, and clamped and pulled. Popped right out. Took the ring out, and presto. I noticed a big difference. I did the baffle delete first, then drove. Noticed a slight noise increase. Then did the silencer ring, and wow, what a difference. As long as it doesn't hurt my MPG's I will leave her out.

Does Dodge just install the things for noise reduction or is there a performance reason ? I have never seen large trucks or heavy equipment with a silencer ring. I am interested in the Barking issue though. I have heard that is not good for our little turbos....

So is this saying its better to have it in?? I see it shows how to replace it with a "better" one but not saying that you "need" it??

Mines out also and I have NOT noticed MORE turbo bark but it is there.... Is this for like anti-surge?
