Intercooler went POP.. PSSHHHHH... PSSSHHHH
So I was pulling the fifth wheel up the grade out of San Luis Obispo today and blew the endcap off the right side of the intercooler. Ooops... Fortunately we were just about at the top of the hill and I nursed it over and coasted down to a place to pull over.
Pulled the IC out and managed to sorta get it back together and was able to get home, but it's still leaking and just needs to be replaced.
While I'd normally do my own homework as to what to get, I'm hoping to get a some quick advise so we can get it fixed ASAP. I've found a few OEM IC's on eBay and like, and the price is right, but it seems the OEM design isn't so great. Any almost affordable options out there?
Only mod is a Quad XZT module and I don't have plans to do much else to it so I don't need anything too crazy.

Did you have one of the plastic ended ICs? if so, don't go with the same thing, go with one with cast ends. The oems are good ICs, just not as resistant to high boost levels like the high performance ones.
look who got ahead of me LOL!!! great minds think alike

I think some of the 05's were plastic, and some were aluminum. Some guys were getting their plastic coolers swapped by the dealer for the Al ones. There may have been a TSB on how the plastic ones were not holding up so well.

Yeah, hopefully you have a cool dealership. I imagine you are in a hurry to get you rig back together, but I do see factory aluminum coolers on ebay often. Most guys that step up to after-market coolers probably want to get rid of the stockers as they take up some space (I would).
Good luck buddy.
By the way, where were ya' camping? We hit Morro Bay a few times a year. It is one of our staple campgrounds.

Thanks, I've found a couple on eBay so far, too bad they all seem to expire 5 or 6 days from now, but I'll keep an eye out.
We camped up at Lopez Lake up in the hills above Arroyo Grande. We had a great time and didn't even have a boat haha. It's a county park. Nice place, we will go back again.

Ordinarily I'd take the stance of "you play you pay" but for this issue, Dodge cheaped out for 1/2 year and it was a stupid move. Mine blew up STOCK pulling my toy-hauler.
Take your XZT off, and take it to the dealer. They will replace it WITHOUT ISSUE i'm sure. Just be cool about it, tell them you were pulling your trailer up a steep hill and it let go. It takes them about a day to get it done because of all the stuff they take off to get to it (per service manual). But it's cheaper and easier than doing it yourself and theres not a whole lot they can screw up on it. Let the dealership deal with it. Dodge made a cheapo bean counter move and they should replace it.

Lopez is nice. Been thinking about just camping there, and using it as a base for chasing wineries around Paso, etc.
Back on topic...you may just want to spend the money for an after market IC....should be able to drop EGT by 50-100F or more.
