I just tired of it! Please give advise
The Cummins valve spring tool uses a long stud with a 19mm nut to compress all 4 springs at once. It is possible if they were using a impact on the nut they over compress the stock springs to hit the seals. Tim

Man, if that's why the seals crumbled I'd be really mad. Can you imagine some wrench jocky staring off into space and winding down the compressor? While you are paying top dollar for an expert and expecting to get a reliable engine. There's a lot more to this game than pulling wrenches.
Or did they just use the old seals that were ready to crumble?
DO YOUR OWN WORK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Sorry for yelling. Best of luck to you Snox.
John
Hey give them a brake, The tire guy who did the springs is an expert with a impact gun

.....I used a soft air rachet...but I'm used to using this and know what forces it binds to. Impact gun....Oh boy...
With a leaky valves you will haze...I assume they decked the block and milled the head when they did your fire rings....Those twins aren't super big... Did they install the oversized stock replacement valve seats or did they install bigger valves and or what exactly did they do to the valve train.
If your running big boost the valve guides will need frequent replacement unless Cummins or an AM has come up with something longer lasting. I think better retainers would be advised...I think DonM has them.
Take Don M up on the injector check....Bodies may test ok but in your bores....not so good. The connector tubes can be a problem.... I got some great advice on injector installation a while back and I think it makes the world of difference in order to get good injector body to connector tube connection. I'm hoping the author will join in as he offered excellent advice.
You can do a leak down test to see if the injectors are not getting their full fuel.
Those turbos with stock injector flow and a TST are not going to work. Kick in a Smarty and keep an eye on Rail Pressure and then you know the supply is getting there. You will need at least a Flux 1.5 with TST and Smarty to keep those twins rolling.
Have you done a leak test on your filter to intake. If you have a leak anywhere you will smoke alot and never get boost.
If you are leak free on fuel and air, and your HG is tight...IF they fireringed...then they used the 24V 2nd gen gasket....I'd have them pull the head and put a new gasket on there and redo the firerings. If the firerings weren't properly set then the new gasket probably is leaking...this is on their dime as this is Tuesday...long weekend work....it happens but it needs to get be fully checked out to get your confidence back. Good Luck, Kerry

yep guys... me too. I pictured " Tow Mater " from the movie "Cars" working in the shop
for 15 to 20K... that's not a good thing ! I'm sure their guys are a bit more competent than that but, it's pure laziness to use a air tool when building the head.

Dustin,
We changed your injector nozzles three times. Progressivly getting smaller and finally ending up stock, but we never changed your complete injectors.
Maybe we need to try installing another set of stock injectors? I dont know Man, Im lost here too.
I thought that you could check the complete injector, so I was under the impression they should be good?
Have you checked the connector tubes? I have had countless people with bad tubes that did not seal.
The second time I sent you my injectors I sent the tubes also. They looked perfect.
I would thouroughly check the head gasket seal too. I have seen this haze you are talking about several times when the gasket is leaking.
Did Scheid install the good/correct valve seals?
I would guess they did, I couldn't find anything that looked like a seal that was held in place by the spring?
What the rail pressure at idle and WOT?
Idle=6500 wot= 20k-24k some where in there
I would be willing to send over to Scheid another set of injectors for them to install if you would like?? But I will need them back as soon as possible.
Thats up to them, but I'd like to get back to my 2.0 or if possible bigger once the problem is taken care of.
Hang in there, hot rodding is supposed to be fun.

about his seals. I was told the possible reason they shredded like they did is because they used an air impact tool to compress the valve springs. The springs likely got compress too far which ate into the seals. Their builders are now aware of this and it shouldn't be a problem in the future.
Dustin, I don't know if they told you this but, I talked to Kent the other day and he believes this was the probable cause.

I guess that I am not totally sold on the idea that they were over compressed, they gave that to me as one of the possibilities. Just with all the pieces that the seals were chopped up into makes me think something else is going on.
I know how you feel though... it kills me I can't be there to watch every step and can only rely on a phone conversation.

That's funny, John - I had the same mental image...
