how much power is an he351 good for?
Guys i want to get into the450- 500 horse range and was wondering if a he351 would be the ticket? if not what turbo would be good for low egts at this range.
the trans would be stock except for a goerend tc and vb so would this handle the power that i want? thanks guys

About 400-425 HP is all you want to run consistently with the HE351. They start to get a little warm and a little too much back pressure when you push them over that.
You can make pretty good numbers on a dyno but not use it on the street.

Speaking from my experience, the HE351 worked great to flash up 499 rwhp on the dyno.
It's an awesome daily driver that spools quickly, makes plenty of power to blow off the rears, and has great towing characteristics.
At the track, I'm having EGT issues trying to lay down 500 HP for a continuous 1320 feet. My truck does great on the first 1/8 mile but really slows down on the back half of the track. Probably due to superheated intake air that heat soaks the stock intercooler (CAC). I have been playing around with wastegating and cutting back on fuel but can't get my truck to run any faster than 95 mph or 14.40 ET. I do have a manual transmission so my slow shifting is hurting ET but the 1750 to 1815* EGT's at the end of the track show that I'm not hurting for fuel!
