Is that piece of tubing on the end going on to the filter the same as the original, just turned or is it a whole new piece? If its new, what is the part number?

the 90* attached to the "box" is a Short radius 90* vs the other one being a regular 90*...there is a piece of 6" tubing welded through the lid of the box and the original amsoil 6080 was used...the part number is here some where I would have to look back through to find it...so stand by and I will see if I can find it

Ok thanks. I've ordered all my parts, just waiting for them to come in the mail. I wish I woulda waited and read this post before I ordered, so I wouldn't have to order a new elbow. I ordered parts based on the old list. I'm gonna try to build my own box from some aluminum diamond plate I've got laying around in the shop

yeah I guess I should have the mods add the newer parts to the old list...I would have done it but you can go back that far and edit posts unless your a mod/admin

this is the elbow I used....

Did you replace the turbo elbow yet, or is it still factory? I ordered a longer piece of 5.5" aluminum tubing and am going to just run that all the way to the turbo elbow instead of using the factory silencer. So I was gona get a new turbo elbow too if you knew which one I would need

I just gutted the tourque tube and put a amsoil4510 filter on it. Putting bigger tubing on there will make it whistle more??

Guys, I ordered all of the components to make this whistler......This was a little more expensive than originally anticipated. I have got $180 in this thing already and still have to come up with some sort of heat shield and support mounting. The AMSOIL Filter was $80 and I have $100 in the tubing, elbow, and band clamps. Granted I bought 12" of both the 5 1/2" tubing and 6" tubing in case I screwed up any welding, but it still would have been $160 for everything. It almost seems worth the extra $150 to buy a manufactured intake? Do any of you have plans for the heat shield that you have built? When I say plans I mean a drawing with dimensions so that I could reproduce what you have already created. If I can't get a heat shield figured out I may have a *****'s Whistler posted in the clasifieds. If anybody can send dimensioned sketches of their heat sheild I would apreciate it. The guy who made the box and put the Lexan lid over the filter had to have sunk a lot of time into that set-up. It looks great! But I am sure that isn't something that you can make for $20 and a couple of hours unless you are real good with sheetmetal. Thanks guys. Any help would be appreciated.

$80 for the filter? Did you pay full retail on that?

It was something like $68 from the Amsoil Website that was posted and then I guess shipping and tax on top of that. It was something like $78 and change for the final bill. I compared to K&N for the same thing was $10 less but didn't really want the oiled filter. AFE's Pro Guard 7 was slightly over $100. So I broke down and bought the Amsoil. I tried to find a better deal on the net somewhere, but got tired of wasting time and just bought it.

I made an aluminum shield for mine today. Took about 3 hours to measure and bend it up by hand on the bench. I don't know how much heat it will block, but it fits nicely. It has a 2" lip to mount to the battery tray and a 6" lip up front (can't really see it). The base is 11" with a bend to a 8" section by the alternator. I placed a slit in some vacuum hose and covered the edges.

How close are you to the alternator with this heat shield? I'm attempting to form something up from cardboard before I start using up aluminum. I seem to be running real close to the alternator. I wish that I could get a little more bend to get around the battery with the 6" tube. That would slide the filter over into the corner a little more. Anybody have suggestions.

Sorry to bring an old thread back but I built one of these this evening. It sounds wicked. Thanks guys for all the work yall have put in to it. I have read just about every post yall have put up. It took about 20 min for me to do. I finished it up and think I want a 45 for it to push it in to the corner a bit more. Does anyone have a part number for one?
