Well son-of-a-you-know what. You sure have a knack of chiming in just a tad late, Cowhand!

I agree with the wood idea. I aways use a piece of wood with a hole in it the size you plan to use. Before you place the wood over the hole, place some double stick tape on the bed. Then when you step on the wood it will not move. The idea is to keep the wood centered and solid. Hold on tight and drill slow!

I did the same thing as WELNDMN did to raise mine.......be careful with the hole saw part, I used a 1/2 drill and a holesaw and when it bit at the corrigated part it about broke my wrist. I finished it out with a jig saw ! other than that pretty straight foward. Have the wife put her foot ont he tail pipe and move it so you can get that bolt thru the frame, you'll see when you get to that point.

Definately. I've been meaning to take a trip to Ocotillo Wells and scope out some camping locations for my brother and I. We've never been and would like to bring the bikes out there sometime.

Thanks for the help guys. I just bored the 4" hole in my bed and it took all of 30 seconds. I should finish the install tomorrow.

I used a 4" hole saw bit. Was very easy, even going through the Line X. I used a comealong to raise the plate.

Milwaukee makes some excellent hole saws for getting through metal.

45 minutes on my last install. One arm'ed the plate...and bolted with the other.

I wish I was smart enough...or less stubborn to think about easy ways. The come along is a sweet idea!
