Help Screwed up my cp3?
I was just replacing a bad fuel pressure sensor with one Quad sent me and think I screwed up the threads getting it in.
Guess this might mean I need a new cp3.
I'm a young old man of 66 and don't need anything but stock for normal driving but I tow a 14,000 lb. 5th wheel in the mountains and need all the power possible while keeping EGT's in check. I presently have a Quad 30/60/100 hp chip with commander and a Scotty 5.
To keep EGT's under control I plan to eventually get a Helix 2 cam, bigger injectors, Glacier 392 with big line kit and water/meth.
Which new cp3 ( or modified) would you recommend?
Also do you know of a good diesel performance shop in the Atlanta area to install the cp3?
I live 40 miles west of Atlanta.
Might have the Helix 2 cam put in at the same time.
Thanks

Something doesnt make sense here , you might mean the common rail is what is screwed up , the CP3 only has a FCA fuel control actuator on it, the common rail has a relief valve and fuel pressure sensor on it. and it is cheaper than the CP3.

If you are installing the banjo bolt and fuel pressure sensor then it would be on the CP3. You shouldn't be swapping a sensor out though. You should have just been replacing a banjo bolt with the tapped one that came with the kit?
What makes you think the threads are messed up? maybe this can be fixed before you go off into buying a several thousand dollar pump.

If you are looking for someone around Atlanta I would recommend Garmons diesel performance 866-898-8585 or 770-898-8585
For the moderates I do not work for Garmons just trying to help a guy out.

The fuel pressure sensor screws in where one of the two banjo bolts on top of the cp3 is located.
I was replacing the first sensor which I had installed earlier. The second sensor must have been tilted slightly when I tightened it. There are aluminum threads in the cp3 which I stripped. On the 04.5 model there is a black box over the cp3 and the sensor barely fits vertically between the cp3 and black box. You can't see what you are doing.

The first sensor I installed with your kit would only read 2 to 3 psi, so you sent me a replacement sensor which I greatly appreciated. It was strictly my fault in stripping the aluminum threads in the cp3. You can't see what your doing in the tight space between the cp3 and the black box above it.
Floor-it said, if I wanted, they would just replace the aluminum plate that has the threads and wouldn't cost much.
A Floor-it Stage 1 cp3 is less than $600 and I eventually was going to get this modification anyway.
Thanks for the reply.
P.S. I love the Commander and Quad 30/60/100 chip.

Ok, are you sure you stripped the threads in the CP3 or just in the tapped Banjo bolt? If it is jsut the Banjo bolt we sent we can replace that really easy.
If not sorry to hear the lusk as that stinks but, it gives you a great excuse to get a modified pump!

The threads on the banjo look good. They are a hard metal. The cp3 has aluminum threads. I hate anything that is aluminum to screw into. Would have been real careful if I'd known it was aluminum!
Thanks
