Guess What I saw last night.
Guess What I saw last night.
2 fellas arguing about their trucks in a parking lot. 1 guy had a 08 ferd 6.4, the other a 6.7 cummins. So I joined in and suggested they race. Then the Ferd went into regen and sounded like a 6.0 at 40 below that wasnt plugged in and started with ether. Seriously sounded like someone put pop rocks into his engine!!!
Long story short, they lined up and the 6.7 had a full truck on him at about 60 mph and was still pulling. But the sad part was there was no smoke....lots of tires screeching, Im sure i heard the PJ screech into 2nd, and the 6.7 scratched into 3rd.
What has the american EPA done to us??
Oh well, All I can say is the 6.7 is pretty quick for a stocker, I would say it would give a LBZ a run.
Jon.

Cool story though, those were pretty much my thoughts after test driving them both. Some people called BS when I said the 6.7 got scratch in 3rd, and that was on dry pavement
I would bet the 6.4 really had to spool up with the footbrake. When I drove them I felt the 6.7 would pull the 6.4 pretty bad out of the hole with equal amounts of boost building.
It also felt like the 6.7 was making more torque than the LMM but I'd like to get some dyno numbers to really see. Too bad they're so light or it'd probably be a very close race.
a guy with a 6.7 wanted to race me today and i felt kinda bad for having to beat him, but i did have to let him know the 5.9 is still daddy. by 60 i had well over 2 truck lenghts but like you said he had no smoke. but i had some to share. i was impressed with how quick they are stock. and no im not stock but i wasnt pumping out alot of extra power either

I havent had the pleasure of driving the 6.4, so i cant speak pro or con about it. But I have driven both the 6.7 and the duramax (lbz) From initial tests that I did, and from seat of the pants, I would say that the duramax is still a fair bit quicker.. but it should be,, after all the chevy is approx 1000 lbs lighter, the engine has more hp, more tq, and has more rpms... if it wasnt faster there would be something wrong.
I think that the 68rfe is the real deal though, I think that this finally will put dodge on a level playing field with ford and chevy in the transmission dept. Which should give us an overall advantage.
Now if they could do something about those stupid seats,, and the interest rate,, I might be driving one of them
