You get the most accurate reading if the probe is installed pre turbo, in the manifold.

#5 cylinder.

Make sure you drill and tap it right, don't be like me and not pay attention. Then you just ruined a great manifold. lol

Not trying to scare you but be careful of how you do it. I don't know if I had a bad manifold or what. But mine basically shattered a little while after I drilled and tapped mine. If this happens to you, I would suggest going on eBay and shopping around. I did and found an ATS two-piece manifold for a good price.

From what i understand predrill slow with a well lubercated drill and once it is close to going though start the truck then continue? Then tap the hole with a greased up tap?

That's what I did w/mine. Some will recommend removing it to drill/tap, but the instructions that came with mine said to do it on the truck.

would you recommend drilling a smaller hole to start with then crank it and drill the right size one?

Not necessary just make sure you have it running before drill bit penetrates though and while tapping and use grease on the bit and tap to keep shavings out of the manifold.

I drilled a smaller hole then started with the actual size. I also removed the manifold to eliminate any concerns. Didn't take but a half hour longer to pull it off.

I thought it would be just as safe to leave it on as long as the truck was started?

I guess that would work, never thought about that option. I'd ask someone who was tried it before and see what they think.

You can take the 4 bolts that mate together the bottom exhaust flange and the top turbo flange and stuff a rag in between them or a piece of cardboard and then drill it, maybe even have someone hold a shop vac while drilling to suck it all up.
