fuel pressure problems with aftermarket pump

I have the Glacier 392 w/big line kit on my truck. My pressure has been reading funny lately, it will be a 0 at idle and go up to about 12 when I am in the throttle. At WOT it never falls below 9, but when I let off, the pressure drops back down to 0. The pump sounds different lately, like maybe a surging sound. Could my pump already be going out? I have only had it on for around 20k. I have changed the fuel filter and the small filter before the pump within the last 4k but the change has just happened recently. I am running the juice "hot" flashed, EZ stack, aftermarket intake, and Glacier with a quad r/p and f/p gauge. Any help would be great.

I just replaced mine a couple months ago and I think it was at about 25,000. I wasn't real happy, but I had already bought a spare walbro and had it ready to go. I have since bought yet anohter to keep in the truck. if I end up using it, I am done with that system.

You can get the pumps for close to 100.00 online.

I have the same lift pump setup as you, and I too thought I was having pump problems. It ended up being my fuel pressure sensor for my gauge. Once I got that squared away, my pressure is now a constant 21 psi no matter how hard I hammer on it.

Hello,

Looks like the culprit of the issue "quad r/p and f/p gauge.". Many of us have similar nonexistent problems.

well mine quit. No quad on my rig. The pump just didn't work anymore, but yours might be the gauge. Mine was also very inconsistent for a week or so before it quit.

its the fp sensor from quad more than likely, i'm having the same issues and i've been thru a 392 and i'm on a raptor 150 now. this is why quad switched to a transducer type sender. there are lots of threads on this for more info.

truck lost power yesterday, just barely could give it pedal or it would stall. I messed with the pump, tapping on it and loosened connections and retightened it. It started back up, but seems to be pulsing. All connections looked clean.

take your check/bypass valve off and poke inside it with a small screwdriver to make sure its not stuck. there is a little piston inside it that will move when you poke it.

I assume the pump is running the whole time, right? no loose connections, etc.?
