I have a 04.5 the one in my sig. It died on my girlfriend going down the highway. I flashed the codes and its 0628 ( low voltage lift pump) I pulled the fuel filter out and drained it, now no matter what i do i cant get the fuel filter canister to fill back up with diesel. Does this sound like a failed lift pump if so is it time for a Airdog??

Yeah it sounds like your lift pump has died

Giver on the Airdog or any other pump.

 

i dont want to spend the 500 dollars and it not solve the problem. What else can i do to narrow down or insure that it is the lift pump? Is mine in the tank or is it the little black canister on the back of the fuel filter housing? I have checked the fuse box but none of the fuses are listed for fuel pump/ lift pump.

Sounds like it would be the fuel pump that is mounted on the back of the filter housing. Unless the truck has previously been to the dealership to have the in-tank fuel pump conversion. Either way it definitely sounds like the fuel pump is your problem.

 

Yeap, the dreaded lift pump failure. It's toast.

 

if you need a quick fix you can always get a holley pump in the mean time...I run a $60 procomp and its still alive...just inase you wanted a cheaper way out but its still 140 for a holley...

 

The truck has never been to the factory for anything, first major problem with this truck. I want to fix it the right way the first time. I talked to a guy at airdog and he asked me where the lift/fuel pump was located and i told him i wasnt sure. So just to clarify is it the black canister on the back of the fuel filter housing.

look at page 10 of the instuctions fig 17 it shows your fuel filter canister with the fuel pump attached(small round black thing)

I just put the airdog 100 on my truck because it is almost plug and play. For the money it is the best buy, but you can always call Geno's garage for the factory pump. I think its still 200 bucks itself.

Yeah it sucks the canister mounted lift pumps block fuel flow when they die. Bad design, if they would've stuck with intank pumps the whole time this problem wouldn't be so serious til more power was needed.

 

NO, if your truck still has the fuel pump mounted to the fuel filter canister you need the kit for the 03-04. Already been down this road on my truck, and took almost a month for me to install mine. The main difference in the kits is that the 05 and up kit comes with just a draw straw and different wiring harness to tap into the fuse box under the hood. AD100 on the 03-04 trucks can use a quick click fitting on top of the fuel pickup/sender assemby but the trucks computer MUST control the fuel pump or it will set a code, so its own harness for those years.
