Thumbs up Fogzilla

I just installed the FOGZILLA fog light mood to my truck and boy the difference is night and day on the light output. The FOGZILLA allows you to change the fog light lamp from a 9006 bulb (1000 lumens) to a 9005 bulb with 1700 lumens a 70% increase in light output. This was one of the best bangs for the buck so far $20 for the FOGZILLA from Geno’s + $38 for the new silverstar 9005’s.

I've got the Brite Box/Bulbzilla along with the turbo timer and the remote switch in my truck. The lights work great, the turbo timer works as stated and the remote switch is really cool. A push of the button to turn on or off and no wires. Great products and dealing with Joel he's a real stand up guy.

Could have done a search on this forum and saved $20. Some minor trimming with some snips on the 9005 plastic housing and a #116 o-ring and you're good to go. Pics of the mod is in my gallery.

MikeyB,

Is it a #116 or #114 O-ring that is needed for the swap?

My bad. You're right, it's a #114.

Great, thank you for clarifying...I'm going to drop some 9005's in this weekend. Do you have to modify the housings or can you just modify the bulb base to fit into the housing? Thanks for the great tech!

Modify the bulb base only. Just clip out the two key tabs inside the connector on the bulb.
Looking at the bulbs in the picture (in my gallery) you'll notice the tab at the 12 o'clock position is different between the 9005 and 9006. Clip off the left hand side of the tab on the 9005 about half way. This will allow the 9005 to fit and twist lock into the fog lamp.
BTW, some have said that the stock o-ring on the 9006 will fit on the 9005 near the locking ring for a tight seal. I haven't tried it though.

You gotta be kidding, that's all it takes??
I've a set of 9005s I got off Ebay just never put them in.
Always debating on whether to order the Fogzilla.
Dillema solved.

MikeyB is right. This is an old trick us Acura Integra owners do all the time with the 9005 and 9006 bulbs. Just take the O-ring off the stock 9006 bulb when you remove it and slip it on the new 9005 bulb in addition to the O-ring that is already on there (Yes, there will be 2 O-rings on the 9005 bulb now).

Trim the inside 2 key tabs in the connector and the socket tab on the left side leaving about a 1/8" tab. Should be good to go and saved $20 bucks
