Question fogzilla too bright for the highway?

Getting ready to install the 9005 silverstars in my fogs and am wondering if they might be too bright for the highway. I do a evening run on a very busy two lane highway and would like to hear from people that have done this conversion as to whether or not you get a lot of vehicles flashing their lights at you indicating they think that they are a little to bright. Maby adjusting them down a little might help? All tips and advice appreciated, thanks.

So far no problems with the fogzilla mod, even adjusted the foglights up a little.

Thanks mikeyb, installed them and did my run last night with no complaints from oncomming traffic, i did however use the next size up o ring as the one recomended seemed a little sloppy when the light was inserted into the hole, i could move it side to side a little, with the next size up, #115, there was no movement.

Don't remember if I used the #114 or the #115 o-rings. Whatever it was I had to use some silicon grease to help get the o-rings on the bulb housing.

I used a little of that silicone on the o ring also, but more for the purpose of sealing it when i put the bulbs into the housing, i don't think them bulbs like water If you bought your bulbs lately sylvania has a rebate on them, but you have to send in the bar code from the package along with your proof of purchase.

I just ordered a set of the FogZilla's for my truck, I like this idea and the price wasn't bad at all. Thanks, Jim

Talk about an abraisive statement.... We need a federal law that only headlights can be used on the freeway. All these lights are killing people.

brad==I do a 220 mile run in the evening for enbridge gas, picking up at the head office and delivering whatever they want sent to their regional places, i could do this with a car but is more fun with my truck i am retired so this is more something for me to do than it is to make lots of money at. But it lets me write of all my truck expenses, they pay me $125.00 a night, 5 nights a week no weekends or holidays

Haulin_in_Dixie==Well i got three nights on the highway and i ain't killed anybody yet matter of fact not one car has even given me the brights.

Just noticed in your sig that you could be haulling as much as 33,000lb, isn't that a little much for a 1999 2500 ram, sounds kinda dangerous

No point in giving brights anymore. So many of the later pickup trucks and SUV's now run ghe "good buddy" lights and blind vehicles from behind and oncoming traffic, using no consideration for other traffic. It is getting time for legislation. If your headlights don't work, fix them. Adding poorly aimed and to bright driving and fog lights shows no consideration. On back roads and when nothing is comeing or in front of you, use them, but not on the freeway in traffic.

My truck is totally legal and safe.

YOu are bound by axle, and tire capacities, and plated weight. Properly set up it is no problem. Although some states will not plate for the higher weights. I have dual wheels on the 2500.

Right after I bought my truck in the fall of 03, I went on a trip out west.... I guess I was a bit nieve - never had a truck with fog lights....

Well many times when driving at night I was getting people flashing hi-beams at me & I couldn't figure out why....Well after a couple days of this, I had three trucks in a row flash THEIR fog lights at me & I figured it out - these things AREN'T meant for daily driving - Duhhh that's why they call them FOG lights I guess

I stopped using them on the highway...and 6 months later I found out JUST what it's like when I had another Dodge 2500 behind ME on a major highway & it was **** bright in the mirrors!

SO Yes, I agree - it is a danger to other drivers - AND yes, I do not see ANY reason to have major light on a large highway - leave them for the back roads where they're actually have a valid USE!
