Spooler, I was planning on putting on the same turbo...HTT 62/71/13ss....but this thread has me rethinking that. Maybe I should go with the 65. I just hate to limit myself on power. I tow, currently with the stocker turbo, and always leave the Smarty on 9.

Stock turbo here. I dumped the revo programming and went back to the 4.11. Running unloaded my bumper was atleast 3x blacker than stock and MPG was down 2 with an almost constant haze. My old 12v hazes less unless I go WOT in second where the turbo never catches up to the fuel. EGTs are also 150-200 degrees cooler. I prefer the 4.11 but am stuck on setting one to keep the haze down. 15k load and avg just over 12MPG and EGT were around 9-1100 degrees for most driving conditions, including coming off of a red light. I really need to find out if there is a beta with less smoke for towing and MPG needs.

It must be the Autos making the 71 wheel so laggy, I tow frequently with mine and with the MP-8 in the mix, I can truthfully say that spoolup feels quicker than stock now. It pulls hard now, even when loaded down.

I love my 64/65/13ss. I row the gears though.

Well, I just loaded the Revo tune and will check it out over the next couple of weeks. Spool up is fine you just have to keep the revs up starting out. If you lug it the least bit it will smoke a good amount. Truck pulls fine though. I just hate to leave a big cloud of black smoke and having to pay attention to how much smoke I may be creating. Just turned the timing down with the aftermarket injector selection. We shall see how that does. That is the good thing about the Smarty Revo. You can adjust it without reloading the software. We shall see. Everything else is great.

Last weekend I towed my toy hauler (12k weighed on saturday morning with 3 quads in it)

This was towing with my wifes truck (it tows better) and I swapped back to Std. Revo, on level 1, torque mgt stock, timing 4.

Rolling in O/D on flat ground boost is at 5 psi and continuous stream of smoke. I finally just set it to stock and ran with just the injectors (flux 2's). It was a little warmer but far less annoying.

Thats on an 05 with 62/71/13ss, flux 2s, and stage 2 floorit pump.

So for whatever reason, on Revo level 1 (timing only I thought) stock torque management and rail settings, it still smokes. Without the smarty it wasn't smokin.

I may go back to 4.11 for towing. Problem is that my tranny shifts like garbage until I get my Shift Master dialed in to handle the shifts better. Thats with a full billet HTS.

I had the same problem with my 04.5 with 4.11 It smoked prety bad most of the time. I switched to the 4.4, & that was way better. Now with TNT I'm running SW9/TQ3/TM2/RP2/WG off, & it only smokes slightly more than 4.4 did, but I think it may have more to do with the temp now than anything else. Also, I think I'm making more power than 4.4 was. It will be another month before I load the camper for a trip over the Mtns. & then I'll know for sure how the TNT runs.

Increased timing at peak torque does increase smoke.
