the megacabs have a extra resonator right before the pipe makes the bend over the rear axle....the QC dont have it

 

jrussell- will it take the drone out? Should i run a muffler with it? Any idea where i can get one or is the donaldson resonator pretty much the same thing?

the aero turbine muffler i was running was the 4040xl which was suppose to have some type of resonator built in it, but it still had the drone just as bad as the straight pipe. Is the mega cab resonator better??

I faught drone and finally got rid of it this weekend. I found a vendor by doing a search and bought a 4" glasspack for $69. The guy knew his stuff and was friendly as a pup! He assured it would stop the drone and to mount it under the cab and as far forward as possible. I'll find him again and post his address. I've been talking to several mfgrs and vendors and nobody has been able to tell me what a resonator is and how/why they work besides that they're a small muffler. Craig

 

I ran the dynomax bullet muffler in my 5" setup and it seemed to cut down on alot of noise in the cab and the truck was still fairly loud outside. I went back to the straight pipe setup and im over that already again. I sold the muffler a while back wish I would have kept it now.

 

C Schomer- Did you just run it with no muffler or with a muffler too? How is the sound? Did it get rid of all the drone? Mine drones really bad when you have a heavy load on it and are pulling a hill. Please let me know where you got your glasspack and how it is working out for you. Thanks!

I have the 51" nelson behind it and the nelson is stuffed with fg insulation and wrapped with more fg. The glasspack stopped all the drone so far but I haven't towed yet. I thought about starting the truck after I had just the glasspack on but DW was in a hurry for us to go somewhere. I want mine as quiet as possible. I don't know if the glasspack would work by itself to stop the drone. The glasspack is 4" id and only 5" od and has louvers punched in the inside tube. I have to look at my credit card statement tonight to see who I got it from - I tossed the packaging already. Craig
