Exhaust Problems...HELP

To start off i have a 2005 dodge 3500 4x4 cummins diesel w/ 6 speed. I have installed a diablo power puck and aem cold air intake. I have tried all kinds of diffent exhaust combinations and i am getting tried of f..king with it!! I have went from 4" straight pipe , which i loved the sound, but the drone... sucked!! Then installed a aero turbine muffler on it, inhibited sound and didnt help the drone at all. Then i replaced the aero turbine with a straight through off brand 4"x 34" muffler, killed the drone but also killed the sound. So i heard everyone talking about the donaldson muffler M090535, so now i have installed 5" exhaust with the donaldson M090535, has a moderate drone that i dont like and no better sound then what i had. Please can someone help me, with what will kill the drone but have good sound. i want no drone at all. I haul alot of hay about 20,000lbs for 5 hours straight and cannot stand any drone, but i would love to have the sound!! 4" or 5" i dont care, what ever works, PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I have AFE Stage II turbo(II SPS66) back 4" with a Banks Monster muffler. For me it is perfect. Loud enough to have great growl on acceleration, but no drone. It is a little loud with load getting to cruising, but quiets down nicely at highway speeds. Over 80/2100rpms you start to hear it again, but not a drone, just loud purrr.

I do believe that the turbo makes a big difference in the sound.

I think you want 4" with a resonator. Not sure, but I think 5" drones unless you have a big honkin' muffler.

I was just abbreviating Justin's comment..."big honkin' muffler"=BHM

I am running the Donaldson M090535 and I love it!!! but you said you tried it and it has drone..so???

that's why I suggested stock 4" pipe with or without a CAT and a megacab resonator sounds GOOD!!!!!

The 4" is fine. It will easily support 500+hp.

Save your money and forget the intake horn, unless you want one for looks. Pretty much everyone that has one says they don't notice any difference with it.

If you're running 4", I would try a stock Mega Cab resonator first. They must be a dime a dozen since so many people change the stock exhaust.

BHM = Big Honkin' Muffler.

The 06/07 Dodge Mega Cab models come stock with a resonator near the rear axle. It's a straight flow-through design so it won't cause any restrictions.
