Engine Block Heater??

This is my first post, of probably many, but I live in the NW and our temperatures have been below zero lately and I've had my truck pugged in for a few weeks now. Just wondering if I need to put it on a timer, or just let it go. Is it good to keep them plugged in for extended time periods?. Thanks.

A timer is a good idea to save a few bucks long term on the power bill but up here in Canada the old girls stays plugged in all night. Won't hurt a thing. Welcome to the forum.

Some do put a timer on them but it's fine to just leave it plugged in.

I run a timer, kicks in about 4am, ready to roll at 8am....only plug in when it's 20's or below though.

Timer here too, no need to pay the electric company any more than I have to! Comes on at 4:00am and I heave the house at 6:30 am. Of course, don't need the heater for the truck to start, rather I get warm air quicker on my tootsy toes.

I think a timer is in my future as well when I need to plug in, 30* or below. It starts soooo nice when its tagging my meter!
