I've been told by people here and there that I need an EGR delete on my 06 5.9. First question is what is an EGR delete and how does it benefit? Second is I can only find EGR delete threads on the 6.7 and none on the 5.9. So is that even a thing or are my buddies just dumb?

 

It's an eternal EGR. if remember correctly you gotta change the cam to eliminate it. It's really not worth it and wont really effect much. You're best off just leaving it the way it is.

 

I vaguely remember someone bringing this up many moons ago ....

You'd need to replace the cam like CRF said, with one from a 2001 engine (again based on memory and it's been a long time since I've seen the discussion on this) plus you'd need to be able to prevent the 5th injector event to completely remove in-cylinder EGR.



For all the time and trouble, it's not worth it.
