downpipe and turbo elbow???

so i am trying to put my silverline exhaust system on this evening. pulled the old off, went to attach downpipe and it does not line exactly up with the turbo's exhaust elbow... it looks like if i loosen and adjust the elbow that it probably would. is this something that other people have run into? or do i have the wrong downpipe in the kit.

the truck is an 03 qclb 2wd auto and the silverline kit is for the 03-04 cummins

i have already confirmed that it is the right kit...

i gotta get this exhaust on for work tomorrow morning so any asap thoughts would be appreciated.
thanks!

i forgot to mention that the downpipe matches up about a 1/4" off on one side when touching on the other. it looks like a little adjustment is all that is needed but i don't wanna do that if no one else has experienced the same difficulty...

I've never installed a silverline system but to me it'd be no different than adjusting a pacbrake exhaust brake (that replaces the elbow) during installation to fit the down pipe... I could be wrong but if I were you and I knew it'd fix it, I'd move the elbow to match the pipe. It's not gonna change anything about the way it functions

I haven't done that exhaust system, but did put a Jake in an 03. You kind of turn the Jake in there until everything lines up, and clamp it down.

The original elbow has a roll pin where it meets the turbo.

I would think you could loosen the clamp, pull the elbow, remove that pin, then rotate the elbow till your pipe lines up...

thanks guys. so i ended up taking the elbow off, pulling the pins, and slightly bending the downpipe hanger with the torch. the combination of those things allowed everything to go together smoothly. the downpipe must have been manufactured a little crooked, thanks for the help!
great exhaust system otherwise!

I've installed three exhaust systems for others, don't recall the brands, that there was no way they would fit unless I slightly dented the downpipe with a hammer. Just a little is all it took.
You definitely don't want any of the exhaust system to touch the body or frame, the resulting noise is horrendous.
Do it right the first time or you'll be doing it over.

I bought an MBRP system some years ago and the fit and finish was outstanding. Zero install issues. Now, when I swapped turbos I had to use an HX-40 style 3rd gen downpipe and needless to say, it took quite a bit of work to get everything downstream to line up properly. The new downpipe was a Silverline unit.

M B R P has a fit problem on there 4" exhaust on there cool duals. Mine would hit the shock on the drivers side on my 95 ram and my friend has the same exhaust on his 06 and has the same issue with the pipe hitting on the shock. The system on my Ram is a little loud but not to bad. I might have to add some kind of resonator to make it quieter. I sent MBRP an email and pictures and they tell me they will correct the problem on there new mandrel bent pipes. Later Don T
