I have been considering this. How are the results? I read some others that did it and didn't sound as if it was worth it. What did you gain? Where did you get the parts and how much?

The steep drop in back pressure should give you quite a performance boost going from 3.5 to 4" at the elbow. What's it like now?

I put a 05 or 06 elbow on mine and ordered a 5'' downpipe from Grand Rock.I learned that if you go with a 4'' down pipe stick with that 4'' pipe all they way back or up in some cases. I used a 4'' down pipe and a 5'' exhaust the noise was nerve rackin. The 5'' down pipe and 5'' exhaust sounds sweet I think

Who sells 4" elbows/downpipes?

If I were to go w/ an aftermarket exhaust it would still come w/ a 3.5" setup out of the box?

It would if you ordered it for your 03. If you get an elbow off an 04.5 or newer then you just order an exhaust for a newer truck too. Then you will have a true 4" exhaust.
I had a Banks 4" downpipe into a 4" exhaust on my 03. I didn't notice any power gains but my egts dropped a full 100 degrees on a hard pull. I'd say it's worth it. I did get a little drone after the DP install.....

Thanks for the info.

So a 4" DP has the same size diameter as my 3.5" that connects to the turbo flange?

Mine is just a .5" thinner.

Talking

Im doing the same thing you are, and let me see if I have this correct. If you get a 4" elbow, the 4" pipe will bolt right to it. Our '03-'04 elbow is 4" at the turbo, and necks down to 3.5" at the downpipe. A 4" DP wont bolt to the 3.5" elbow. The turbo outlets should both be 4".

Does this make ANY sense??
