Does Smarty Raise Rail Pressure

Topic says it all guys. Anyone with a interest or gauge check if the smarty boost the rail pressure. There are a few of us here that are leary of the low end response and touchy pedal. I find it interesting that smarty plays with tst like the edge ez which is a pressure box.

smarty does not do pressure

How does this compare to a BD tripple dog on a 2004 305/555? I read on here that the tripple dog only adds pressure on the performance and extreme settings.

Smarty actually inadvertently does provide a tiny bit of additional pressure at idle 1500psi down to virtually nothing a WOT at least with a modified CP3. See a post by AK RAM who does have a pressure gauge. The touchy pedal is called quick throttle response. If you are not mentally quick enough to drive a fast truck you should stick to something other than Smarty. ks

And he does mean "quick" throttle. With custom low stall triple disc TC and beefed up clutch packs there is not much slosh left and with the Smarty you have to be very careful to nor run over some of the slower drivers leaving a light. And turning on wet asphalt roads provides as much adrenaline as the Super Roller Coasters.

The throttle response on mine is probably 75% touchier than the BDTD CL 2.3.1. Have not tried the BDTD 2.3.2 yet.

Definitely need tc/tranny to handle it. I should have my new Rail Pressure gauge installed next week, then I can do a lot of testing and tuning.

i will say this the smarty keeps the rail relief valve from opening up at least until higher pressure.useing a scan tool to log with the smarty in i run about 3500-4000 more psi than without smarty at wide open throttle.now at down low and normal driving i do see a bit more pressure but it is very minor.not saying that it adds pressure but the truck at least mine does see more on wide open runs ,this is with a modded cp3 as well

How would the smarty keep the relief valve from opening? It is a mechanical spring loaded valve. Nothing has control over it. When the pressure in the rail exceeds what the valve can hold, it opens.

Hmm. might just be the way he is controlling the ECM. He might have a better of controlling how the fuel comes on. It all depends on what he is doing to make the power. Maybe he is keeping duration shorter so he can keep the pressure up

While most of the other programs affect pressure...few can control it when stacked with something else....Smarty seems to be able to keep it reasonably under control when stacked. I agree that Smarty does not add pressure on the top end beyond the stock levels but it does control it. I also was able to achieve a higher boost pressure with Smarty but I have a rail cap so I don't have a maximum rail pressure....just a burst pressure. I was able to get an over pressure code with 62L/hour injectors......now that is alot of fueling. ks

I am maintaining higher rail pressure with the Smarty in the mix as well.

This is what Bob was saying, the pressures may be different at a given RPM than what you currently might have seen, but the SMARTY does not increase the pressure beyond the stock maximum.

I made a few passes on the track last night with the Smarty only and a scan tool reading rail pressure.

Never reached 24,000 and never dropped down at the end of the track. It did not drain the rail.
