Do I need a boost fooler??

Was looking for a bit more boost to help keep the EGT's down. I do not have a boost elbow (yet) but want to get one if it will help. Will using a boost elbow produce the same results as say a clamp or vicegrips on the hose that actuates the wastegate on a stock turbo? I have an early 04 and am running a BullDog Torquedog module mostly on the high setting except when towing I go to the mid setting.
Also is "barking" the turbo harmful to it? When I accelerate hard unloaded or even mildly when towing the turbo barks when the trans shifts especially after the new ATS trans was installed a few weeks ago. Will switching to a 4" exhaust help to aleviate these problems?

barking the turbo is hard on it. boost fooler will only prevent the system from setting an overboost code. get a bigger turbo

A boost elbow or clamp will gain you 8-10 lbs of boost, then you will need the Fooler to keep from throwing over boost codes and yes Like said above, Barking the turbo is hard on it...

Ok so what will help prevent barking the turbo? No $$ for a new turbo. It is stock with only the bullydog torquedog module. Does anyone know if this module boost fools already ? As I understand it is mainly a pressure box right?
Truck has 140K miles on it so no warranty. What will happen if it overboost codes are set off? Just light the MIL indicator lamp or will it go into a limp mode? Want to try clamping the boost line before buying unnecessary items if it won't hurt anything. What fooler is recommended for reliable and cheap ( (oxymoron I know))

Is your truck an HO with 305hp if so it should make 26psi stock wastegate settings. Clamp it off and add a fooler you will see 35psi +. Since you have a early 04 get a HE 351 turbo ($300) for cooler egts and more boost. Instead of getting a fooler get a Smarty JR. Code reader, fooler, and programmer all in one. With the POD (power on demand it is really adjustable). Adding pressure will cost you big $ down the road. Just my opinion. Check out my signature for my mods. I tow a lot and she hauls real nice now with good fuel economy.
