Do Edge CTS and CS measue correct boost pressure?

My Edge CS says im only making 27# of boost. That's the highest value I can get with my Smarty Set on #5. Seems low.
I have a mechanical gauge that I use in the shop for troubleshooting, I could hook that up, but wanted to get your thoughts first.
Thanks

The Smarty boost fools so the CS only displays the fooled number, not the actual number. You need the mechanical gauge to get the actual number.

My Edge cts goes to 37 with my Smarty on level 3 (senior) and wastegate off.

OK, So when I changed the oil today, I Pinched off the line for the waste gate with a pair of hemostats. Went to town and now the truck is more responsive and hits 35 lbs boost. I like the truck way better now. still gonna hook up my test gauge to see actual numbers.

That's good to know. I thought the Smarty would cause the CTS to read the same as when a plug-in boost fooler is used, my mistake! Sorry!

Since the Smarty is replacing the programming in the ECM, the Smarty code will not set a DTC when a higher than stock boost pressure is read. But the ECM still sees the proper boost value, which can be read by the CS/CTS.

A plug-in boost fooler doesn't actually deal with the ECM, so it only modifies the voltage sent from the boost sensor so that the ECM only sees a value within the stock range. So anything reading boost from the ECM will also only receive the "modified" value.

Just to clarify the Smarty does boost fool, but only to a point. I know when I had a Smarty I would still throw over boost codes. I had to add a boost fooler to stop getting the codes. It all depends on your set up, I can't remember how high the Smarty will boost fool but it will trip codes above a certain level.

So yes you can run a Boost Fooler (and I'm talking the plug and play type off the wastegate resistor), or for that matter you can make your own if in fact you still throw over boost codes.
