dim my new gauges
I am looking for the right wire to tap into for my gauge lights. I want them to dim with the factory gauges. Also does anyone know if there is a line to tee in for the boost? If not I have to dirll and tap the intake.

On the 3rd Gen's 03-04 all you need is a feed thru bolt that will allow you to remove one of the intake manifold bolts and replace it with that one. The BD X-monitor comes with this and I belive can purchase them other places. The bolt has the boost hose connection on the other end. It works just SWEET, it takes longer to find a wrench to get between the injector piping than it does to hook it up.

I have not done my gauges just yet but looking at the wire diagram it looks like if you tap into the Violet with White stripe wire that goes to the headlamp switch/dimmer unit-- that should do it.
That is for an 03 model.

Hi jt,
Your '97 shouldn't be much different than my '96. BBWD taught me this one. Get a thing called Add-A-Curcuit from autozone. It is a gizmo that you put in your current fuse panel. It has a wire comming off it and a place for 2 fuses. Find your instrument lights fuse. Should be marked on the cover. Pull the fuse out and stick in the new holder(Add-A-Circuit). Connect your new gauge light +pos wire to the wire from the new fuse holder. Connect the other wire -neg to ground. Put a fuse (it comes with 3-4) in the new holder where the wire is and the old fuse in the other part of the holder. Should work fine. Mine did.
Hope this helps.

On my '03 the dimmer wire is orange/white stripe. I tapped the wire behind the headlight switch assembly. For the boost pickup, I used the boost bolt already mentioned here. Came with gauge kit I ordered from Geno's. Piers Diesel Research sells the bolt for about $18 bucks or so.
