What exactly is the point of all this? Fastest with the best mileage? Well heck, you can take a honda and run 10s and get 30mpg, so does that mean it's better than the Cummins and the Hemi?

I've owned both a Hemi and my current truck. Maybe you can make 600hp with a Hemi. Is it going to have 1400lb-ft of torque? I think not. The Cummins equipped truck is a superior towing machine and just happens to be able to be made into a very capable 1/4 mile machine as well. Also, while the new Hemis may get 20mpg, if you jacked it up to 600hp it certainly would no longer be getting 20mpg and yet that is something the Cummins is capable of.

Hook 10,000lbs behind a brand new Hemi that has been modded to the point of being able to tow equally with a stock Cummins and see if the $.50 price difference if fuels still bothers you.

Good points, also, a hemi would never tow as much in theory as a diesel in the real world. Of course an all out race motor is different but hemis like a lot of air flow which is usually at high rpm and towing is usually at lower rpms. That is why diesel engines are in 18 wheelers etc. If you have ever driven an old gas powered 10 wheeler you know what I'm talking about.

Mileage? If one is worried about milleage get a hybrid.
