diesel vs hemi

About a month ago we bought a ram 1500 daytona hemi for my wife in Florida when we were on our holiday.
Last week friday the truck was pulled out the container,so we could pick it up.
When we did all the paperwork and paid for tax and duty ,we were on our way home ,my wife drove the hemi and I was driving my diesel truck.
After 60 miles we were almost home ,i noticed my wife was hammering the hemi after a red light ,and so did I too,I could hear the V8 rumble before my turbo,s spooled ,I pushed my go pedal too ,and it seems I only had to push a little more than half throtlle to keep up with her,so we let go at 90 mph ,and a half minut later she called me and asked ,, did you had full throttle ,, ?
I said no ,about half throttle , Oh ,, I was pushing it all it had she said .
She sounded a little dissapointed ,but said ,mine truck is not as noisy as yours inside the cab,and drives much smoother , and I said sure honey you right about that ,but i was only doing half throttle remember ,,,,Ha Ha

Yeah, my wife has a hemi... it has some pretty good go, but my truck creams it.

Well here is a question that you might impose. What is doing better at the fuel pump? If its an 08 it has the MSD and rumors say it will come in around 20mpg on highway. Now I know we can all stretch our Cummins to 20 on the highway if we baby it. But regular unleaded is at $2.99 gallon and Diesel is at $3.45 a gallon So with a 30 gallon fill its $15 cheaper Plus the cost of the Diesel option is about 6k now. Now if you want to compare Warranties the New Hemi with lifetime power train is longer than one with a Cummins. Sorry for ranting and bashing cummins a bit since I love my truck. But I bet I could dump my truck and get into a sweet Daytona for only a few thousand more and have a truck 4 yeas newer.

Oh and nice truck Sterling if I get a HEMI Daytona its going to be the Bright Silver one or Go-Man-Go. It would be a game time descion for me.

A few weeks ago I was driving along a big open highway in Missouri. I passed a 2wd single cab hemi who was doing about 60 mph. I was going about 70mph, and when I passed him he all the sudden decided he wanted to race. We did a bunch of racing starting at about 50mph to about 80. Starting at 50 I would be winning and as soon as I hit about 70 he would blow past me. I was never able to talk to him to find out if he was letting me have it at first or if our powerbands were that factor. I dont have a chip or programmer on my truck but I sure wish I did that night.

Not to start a political battle but I thought I would voice my 2 cents. I work in the oil industry and Bush has done more to up production than any other politician I know. ( More oil means less fuel costs.) IF Clinton gets into office and cuts production as she plans on doing, we will all be complaining more about the even higher fuel costs.

O.K. a little warning for all the Members here,........we don't want to see any political "arguing" here about oil prices and the Presidency! If you guys want to do that take, it over to the "all-politics" website!

I had an 04 RC like that. I think stock vs stock the hemi would win.

They ran a 15.0 according to the mags. Reason I bought the truck.

I kinda miss it but wasn't the same after it was wrecked .

Actually they started the MDS in the 1500 Rams for this year ('07). Except for the 1500 Mega Cabs.
The MDS Hemis started in '05 for the 300C/Magnum RT and the later Charger RT.

If your wife would put a paxton supercharger on that hemi she'd be saying good by diesel boy! My truck seems to run pretty good and my wifes truck will eat mine. But I'm at 8700lbs and her's is 5500lbs, so i be a little heavy.

I just bought a 1500 4x4 Hemi QC, SB w/ MDS for my dad this weekend. I think it was an great choice.

Lifetime warranty
MDS hemi
20+ the way he drives
$10K off MSRP (through Costco)
standard power sliding rear window
Sirius
LSD and tow package
Big Horn
power pedels

Sticker was $38K
Costco price $27,899 in CA Not bad for one phone call for a loaded truck

I'm a diesel guy because I tow but I think this truck is just perfect for him due to the lifetime warranty, MDS, and $10K off, and he doesnt tow.

Its a nice rig, Patraiot Blue Big Horn w/ 20's

My wife's Hemi will stay right with mine. The Superchips Programmer really woke her truck up.
