Are you serious? Your truck should easily run mid 12's or better. I didn't think just a supercharger would get a Hemi into the mid 12's?

I talked to a guy who has a 1500 Hemi (non-MDS I think) and he said he's lucky to get 13-14mpg on the highway unloaded. We went for a drive in my truck and he was so impressed with the 18-19mpg......wait, maybe it was actually the HP/TQ he was impressed with......but anyway, he's out looking for a leftover 5.9 right now!

Buddy of mine had an 06 HEMI... Lasted about 4 months of pathetically poor MPGs.. around 13 hwy 11 in town and a whopping 7 pulling his 22' boat up to Dallas and back.... Now he drives an 07 5.9 with a smarty! no thanks to me I'm sure

I have a guy that live out by us and he has a hemi. he is one of them stupid ones that thinks his truck is fast. i seen him on the street in traffic so no room to play. well the first light that we were both in front he getts in the turn lane and runns away. well i went to the diesel shop i go to every week and after talking with him for a little bit he looks at my truck and smiles. he tells me that the hemi guy came in and talk to him about modding his truck. he also asked the diesel guy if he knew a red 2500 with two stickers on the back glass. at the time he didn't remember my truck. well the hemi guy said that he beat my truck bad. SO as you all know i'm not going to let that go. i will find him and beat his truck into the ground. i have seen him in town about 3 times one i was pulling the horse trailer and the next i was hauling a car and the last time i was in our 1500. But his day will come and i will make sure we do it so that everyone can see how slow his hemi is.

Everyone's talking all this trash and patting themselves on the back but nobody is playing apples to apples...everyone's all excited that our modded cummins will beat stock hemis...well of course they will. Dump the same amount of money into a hemi in gofast parts and then see what happens...

Yeah and they aren't too expensive to mod. Cams are cheap and add a full exhaust... That will wake the truck up the most. Then shift kit, converter and maybe some gears down the line.

Well comparing 8k lbs to 4-5k lbs isn't exactly apples to apples either, but you don't see anyone here complaining about that difference.

Either way, are you saying a Hemi will run low 13's with just a $700 programmer? A CR Cummins will. I've seen modded Hemi's at the track running mid 14's and I'm pretty sure they had more than $700 in mods.

You got to be kidding me.If a CTD where such a perfect machine then why are all the REALLY fast drag racing fuel cars running a HEMI.

Only thing these smokin trucks we have are good for is to tow the really fast cars to the track.

Plus all that, why is it that the top pulling classes all have some type of gasoline, fuel, alky blown engines??????????Why not strap a couple smokers to the front of their rigs and try and get that sled down the track.

It's all about horsepower to weight ratio. We would not stand a snowballs chance in hell of out drag racing a jacked up Hemi powered Ram.I had one and no one ever outran me,even when I was pulling my 4500 offroad Jeep on a 1500 lb trailer. It's all about the proper gearing, rpms, and how big your right foot can get.Crank out 8 grand in a CTD and you'd be picking up the pieces for a month.

I love my 06 MegaCab cumapart hummin cummins, but it won't outrun a Hemi.If you go apples to apples and put the same amout of money in both trucks

First off, my Cummins puts out almost no smoke...unless I ask for it intentionally.

Secondly, you do know the newer "Hemi" engines have no relation to the original Hemi's right? It's just a marketing term used for another V8 gasser.

Now, I have yet to see a 12 second Hemi truck in person or on video. I'm sure they exist, but you can't even find video of one on YouTube. The fastest one I could find on YouTube was mid 14's and stockers were running mid 15's. So basically I could tow that 14sec Hemi truck across the country getting better fuel mileage than it would get on it's own, unload it at the track, and then proceed to beat it silly in the 1/4 mile while putting out almost no smoke.

I realize my truck is heavily modded with a lot of money invested, but Creed has run low 13's in his Cummins with (I think?) only a programmer. Come on all you "Yeah, it's got a Hemi!" guys...show me 1 example of a Hemi truck running even close to that fast with only $700 in mods. I'm waiting...

How's this.....take a Hemi and put $685 into it and see if it runs 104mph in the quarter mile. I doubt it.

I had an 04 1500 4X4 hemi at the same time as my current truck which is an 05 2500 4X4 cummins. Both automatics. The hemi was the most gutless thing i have ever been around. 0-60 it was quick but get it at highway speeds and it was horrible. It couldn't accelerate on flat ground at 60mph without downshifting. It wouldn't pull our 3000 pound boat and trailer unless the rpm's were at 5000. Even then it couldn't accelerate much at all. Best of all it got 14-15 mpg's at 60 mph on flat ground when my wife was driving it daliy to work. It got 6-7 pulling our boat, you could actually watch the gas guage dropping. With both the diesel stock and hemi stock, the cummins head to head would win by about 1 truck length. The hemi out of the hole to 60 was faster then fell on its face and the cummins would go right past it.

Here is what I base my opinion on.

X Took the pic off the internet for privacy issues, sorry

I bought both of these trucks new. The Hemi is faster, but he likes to fill up more often .

Seriously though it would acheive near 18mpg hwy on trips if I didn't drive it too hard.

I definately pounded that truck on a regular bases though.
