05 OD lockout thinking of doing this MOD
just finished reading all 11 pages of this post and want to say thanks to all, now my question, my 05 in tow/haul will shift into OD everytime, it does not stay in third, (tested again yesterday TH on, 9500# trailer on freeway 70mph at 1900 rpm) same trailer up steep grade lever in D/OD and tranny in second between 30 to 45 mph never get the SOP's feel that all the power gets to the ground... it reads like this switch would fix this problem, any thoughts?
Hi, I live in Sweden an our speedlimit is just 2-3 MPH under where the lockup automatic is set to on. This makes that I need to speed more than the trafic in front of me to get it in on.
To manualy the entry the lockup seems to be a good thing for me... I just have some problem to understand how to install it. Is there some drawing for how to install the switch? I think I can find the #59 relay but where is the #7 and how do I connect the switch to it?
I have a RAM 2500/05.
Regards, Eric.

There is a write up about this. I think in the Tech Articles, not sure.
But to find #7 ping. There are 2 pins connected to the tranny. The one you want is a Round pin. Pull that off and you can see teh numbers on the plug connector. Look for # 7 and you just need to tap into that wire and run a piece of wire into the cab's dash somehow. I used the little hole on the firewall where the Clutch linkage usually goes through (I have an auto). Then run that wire to a switch (2 pole switch) and run another run from the other side of the switch to a 33 OHM (not 33k ohm) reisistor and then to ground somewhere.
Hit the button, TC locks, hit the button, unlocks. Leave button in off position and TC should work like normal.
Hope that helps.

I just had a new Tsb done on my 05 for towhaul mode which enables you to lockup in 2nd and 3rd without going into od.Look into it you won't need to buy any box just have your comp ,reflashed at dodge.
cquested, just to make sure we are on the same page..lol...I know I have the tow/haul button, but the 2006 has the tow/haul and O/D dual mode button. The flash for the 2005 allows you to use this feature. This is why I am trying to figure out why this TSB wouldn't work on my 2004. BD Diesel has the box that you can by for $200 and some change that accomplishes this, but it is advertised only for the 2005. Does this make sense? Thanks
The 2006 is totally a different animal. The ECm is different...so NO flash for a 2004.5 and up will work on a 2004. You don't want the DC's idea of Tow/Haul IMHO. 04's have the best...simply a 4th gear lock out with revised TC lock up points whether the selector is in D,2,or 1.
A additional TC controller (like the BD, ATS, TS, etc etc etc) is also nice to have. Depending on the driving situation...I use my TC controller or the Stock TC lock ups in (Tow/Haul 4th lock out) and my manual TC lock up switch all the time. Plenty of flexibility to make the truck drive like it should.

Ok, I understand now. What did you mean about "04's have the best...simply a 4th gear lock out with revised TC lock up points whether the selector is in D,2,or 1"? I assume manually putting the selector in those gears and.....?
Also, what TC controller do you have other than the manual lock up switch that we have all installed? Also, would a revised valve body help? One of the main problems I am having is when towing up a grade in OD the tranny does not kick down unless I slow down to about 40mph and I loose all my momentum. Do get the same results when you use the tow/haul mode and can only cruise up to about 55, maybe 60 because it is reving higher? Thanks for all your quick replies.

Yes...when in D...tow haul locks out 4th...TC lock up is at 55 mph.
When in 2...it will only shift 1-2-TC lock at 35 mph if TOW Haul is on (maybe 30...can't remeber).
When in 1...it wil only use 1st with TC lock even lower when Tow Haul is on.
When in D and Tow Haul is not on....1-2-3-4-TC Lock at 55 mph
OR
1-2-3-TC Lock at 55 mph-4 if your are heavy on the skinny pedal.
All of the above is the OEM programing for 04's.
I use the older ATS Commander that is a speed sensative LC controller that overrides the OEM TC lockup. I also have a manual swith that overrided the ATS Commander.
Your best bet is to use a controller for towing...and the override for racing or "wierd" situations.
