Smile In-dash dvd/head unit ..clarion

Im lookin at upgrading my stock head unit. I have the plain 4 speaker set-up no nav. Im looking at the Clarion MAX675VD. It looks like a great unit, any one have this? Any one order from sonicelectronix.com? They have it for 599.00 . My big question is besides ordering a nav. installation kit, from dodge parts. What else do I need? Thanks

You need a CANBus adapter for the 06 and up.

I have been looking at a similar set up. What does the dodge installation kit include? I like the headunit pick, good brand.

I have a Pioneer Avic-Z1 in mine and I really like it. I had the standard cd player in my truck and I upgraded to the double-din nav unit. The only things you will need is the Dodge navigation bezel and the wiring kit from crutchfield or somewhere like that. I'm not quite sure what the Dodge installation kit includes but i do know that Crutchfield has a harness that simply plugs into the factory harness and it gives you all of the Navigation hook-ups that you will need (speed sensor, parking brake, reverse, etc.). They didn't have it when I ordered mine; I wish they would have. Installation would have been a breeze.

I have also ordered from Sonic Electronix and they are not too bad to deal with. The shipping was a little slow, but you get a huge discount on what you purchase. I have also heard pretty good stuf about that hea unit as well. Have fun and enjoy!

Here are a few pics of my Z1:

Its a very simple process. First buy the double din dash bezel from the dealer. Second by the metra dash install kit. the aftermarket nav units are a little smaller than the factory unit so the metra kit makes up the difference. Do a google search for can bus adapters. There is a lot of different ones. You need the expesive one for the nav units. If you buy the cheap adapter you have to locate the Reverse signal wire and the vehical speed sensor wire.

Then you plug the radio in and your done.

PS. I recommend the pioneer nav units...

Oh yeah I forgot about the metra dash kit. I also recommend the Pioneer NAV units, but they are a little more pricey. Not near as expensive as the Alpines and I wouldn't have another one of those anyways. I had a IVA-D310 with the DVD-ROM Nav and I hated it.

How bout us 04.5 guys with space only for a din and a half? How do you get one of those 2 din in dash navs in?
I was looking today at a Alpine IVA-W205 with the Blackbird or a Pioneer...not sure the model....the dealer was really pushing the Alpine...
What do you guys think?
The installer told me he could pop out the center dash piece and customize it, but not so sure about that and I want to stay away from the fold up screens....
What do you all think my options are....
Thanks
