Cracked injectors

I have a least one cracked injector and have been driving with it for 6 months. Am I going to do any serious damage? I have no money to get it fixed(unemployed). Truck seems to idle ok but not as smooth as it used to, white smoke on startup and some intermittent long cranks, can feel a loss in power but not a huge loss and way more smoke. No fuel in oil and pressure seems to be good 21,000 to 26,000psi at WOT. So is my truck going to hold up until I can get some money coming in or is it likely that it could get worse and fail? Thanks, Tom J.

How do you know it is cracked? Usually a cracked injector will fill your crank case with fuel. You may have one that is leaking slightly. As long as there is no fuel in your oil you should be ok for a while or until it gets worse.

I had the leaking injector long crank problem for about 6 months.
Had it into the dealer 2 times and to a independent shop 2 times was told each time that every thing was within spec. They did leak down test, capped off each line, pop off test everything.
Several times I had to crank it long multiple times to start it.
I told them its not within spec if it always started in 3 to 5 revolutions and now it takes 15 or more. Got the typical answer " Could Not Duplicate the Problem "
Finally had a no start situation when I was leaving work and had to get it towed in. 30 miles from home and no one else left in the parking lot. Could not bring myself to shoot either in it.
Told them to put 6 new injectors in and it solved the problem, heavy on my wallet though.
That is the 3rd set of injectors in this truck installed at 104,000 miles, second set was at 75,000 miles that set was under warranty.
I get fuel from the same Truck Stop all the time unless I am traveling which is not often and use the Genos 421 filters kits with the 7 micron fuel filter. I also use a Lubricity additive at each fill up. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
I hope this set of injectors out last the other 2 sets.
I would try to get if fixed before it lets you sit somewhere thats no fun.
Good Luck with it.

If you know you have a cracked injector, get it fixed asap. A cracked injector could lead to catastrophic engine damage to include melted pistons and ruined bearings to a hydrolocked motor. Those of course are extreme situations, but I wish to keep you out of them.

You know the story... ruined engine by something extreme then the owner saying somethng like "if only someone told me this could happen!"
I'm not chicken little here mind you, but now someone has told you. The point is "if" you really do have a cracked injector, it could certainly get worse quite easily, especially if you are still pounding on it at 26k pressure....

I have taken off the Quad and tried to run without the Smarty but the truck did some weird things at higher rpm's. So I have the Smarty Revo loaded on level 3 default settings and I have really been taking it easy. I hear you about getting it fixed but I am closer to losing the truck than being able to pay to fix it.
