Tired of Cracked Injectors!! Who Makes most reliable Aftermarket?
Tired of Cracked Injectors!! Who Makes most reliable Aftermarket?
This stupid truck is really starting to tick me off. It's been to the dealer 5 times for injector problems.. and all they ever do is clean the things.
I'm sure some of you have seen my previous posts... But I so much white smoke on cold startup that you can barely see the back of the truck in the mirrors, loud banging and clattering at random stoplights.. etc. I'm just plain fed up with it.
So I guess I'm going to replace them with a set of aftermarket upgrades.
It's my understanding that there is more than 1 way to build an injector, but I haven't learned the pros and cons of each way.
Could somebody Enlighten me as to the options.
Also, what size injectors should I go with... Aside from what I already have done to my truck.. A turbo is definately in the future - Just don't know which. A small shot of Nitrous may be in the future as well, or Water Methanol. First and foremost my truck is a tow rig though... So I have to keep things reasonable. You know.. That whole saying about having your cake and eating it too??
Any Advice?

How are you cracking injectors? That is something that usually comes from extemely high rail pressures and high spikes. With what I see in your sig, you should not be having that problem.
Anyway, I would strongly consider the F-1 injectors if you are looking for good aftermarket modified injectors.

Yeah.. I know I shouldn't be cracking them... But what else can possibly cause the problems I am having?
The dealer actually replaced one because it was cracked once, and cleaned the rest.
They sent the tech out to tell me that "You don't drive the truck hard enough to clean the carbon off the injectors... You should try running fuel additives.."
Let me tell you.. I've run enough fuel additives in this truck before that the Exhaust smelled like some weird chemical reaction mixed with a tiny hint of diesel fuel... No Dice... I've actually had the **** thing smoke more on cold start with Additives in the tank.
And this truck REGULARLY see's 1500 for 10 seconds or so at a time, on the EGT gauge..
Yeah.. Running a retarded amount of additives is probably a bad idea.. But I'm at a point now where I'm half tempted to burn this engine down and stuff a new one in.
With 35K Miles... I shouldn't be having these problems.
Who makes the F-1 Injectors? Got a link to a website??

I am a fan of controling your own pressure...via a **** and a gauge. It is the only way of knowing what is really going on.
You could use the BDDL on Tow and then add pressure over the top with one of the "several" good pressure boxes.
Get a rail gauge...and then you can figure out what is causing the problem...or at least eliminate excessive rail pressure.

Nobody Really knows what the BDDL does to the rail pressure.. Some say it raises it.. Some say it doesn't.
Some say it raises it too much.. Some say not enough..
It's not knowing that sucks.

AGAIN......... The bully dog DOES NOT raise pressure.
I do have a di pricol rail gauge and see no added pressure with the bully dog on any setting. My buddy has an 04 with a SPA gauge and doesn't see any either.

Why aren't you going to the dealer and having them fix it under warranty? It's an '05 and you are under the mileage and years. Seems if the injectors are a problem the dealer should fix them under warranty.
