Talking Correct me if im wrong or mistaken!!!

Ok called to try and get the plug to plug it in overnight to help with starts right! The service guy at bob moore dodge in midwest city, Oklahoma, tells me that they don't have any and something was said and I mentioned "glow plugs" and this guy said that no CUMMINS has ever had glow plugs and that they run with spark plugs.....SERVICE MANAGER....

Thats about right for a service manager isnt it. try to go to a cummins, volvo, freightliner or some kind if big truck shop that deals with cummins engines. Ya cummins dont have glow plugs they have grid heaters.

I got my plug from a peterbilt sales shop near me and they had it on stock because so many of these engines are used in the medium duty market. It was a kit with the plug cord and heater but now i have a back up on the shelf.

No glow plugs in these trucks, indeed we have the grid heaters... I wonder if some service manager could have been talking to someone else, just looking at your direction when he said spark plugs....

We have 12V powered grid heaters that preheat the intake air for easier startup in cold weather.

The cord you want is for the block heater. Its a 120V heating element that sits in the engine blocks antifreeze passage way and when you plug it in to 120V it heats the antifreeze and thus the whole engine.

I would think that $180 would be the price for the whole kit, cord and element. $18 was most likely just the cord.

I went to the cummins dealer in ct, and they hooked me up for 18$ Took me about 7 minutes to get it in, and it works everyday now. You should already have the internal part, just need the cord. Kinda stupid it doesnt come with it in my opinion.
