does this sound correct? (pusher pump question)
well, i changed out my vp-44 this weekend and i dont want to do it again..alot of fun getting started again too...anyway, the guy that sold me the pump also sold me this little "pusher-pump"...he said to install between the tank and the lp in the frame rail, he said its like the one on the GM diesels, does this sound like it will help keep the vp-44 fed better??....also, i would like t0 change the banjo's for more fuel but im clueless here ( where to buy, which ones to change, etc...)..i want this new vp-44 fed well!
Re:does this sound correct? (pusher pump question)
The pusher pump can do two things. First, it can make sure the stock fuel pump gets a good feed of fuel. This is good if you subscribe to the idea that many of the fuel pump problems are due to the fact it was mounted on the engine, not beside the fuel tank. Second, if the stock fuel pump fails, the "pusher" pump should be able to push "through" it and keep you from getting stranded. If this happens you may or may not have a pressure drop so a fuel pressure gauge will be a wise install.
While the pusher pump idea is OK, I did not want to mess with that so I just replaced mine. I am very happy with it so far.

www.GenosGarage.com carries bigger banjo bolts. Make sure you get one with a port on it for the fuel pressure gauge. I think www.WildcatDiesel.com also carries them.

Then Ditch the lift pump all together! Go with a PE pump.
I had a pusher setup and it failed as well. (Granted the pusher was beaten up pretty good over the harsh winter with road salt) but I want longevity. So I replaced EVERYTHING. -8An From the tank to the PE4200 -8An From the pump to fuel can and -6an from there to the VP44. Theese pumps have been known to "Pump sand" if need be.
