Do these numbers sound correct

Installed a DiPricol boost and EGT gauge (pre turbo) last week. In driving around town I'm getting about 300 on the EGT when cruising. The most I can get it to when accelerating up a hill in 4th gear, or WOT in 3rd is about 650. At this point my boost is about 23 psi give or take 1. The truck is basically stock, except I think the PO moved the fuel plate forward. Do these sound like reasonable numbers? Just want to be sure I installed them properly.

Those numbers do seem quite low. I'm not real familiar with the 12v's and how hot they run, but still those numbers seem low, seem like post turbo readings actually.

I agree, sounds like post turbo readings.....even then, those #'s are still on the low side.......that gauge isn't in Celsius or something crazy like that, is it?

I'm running a BD fuel pin, with the fuel turned up a little with a stock 21cm turbo and pushing 1200 degrees towing an 7200 pound trailer on level ground.

Where abouts did you mount the probe pre-turbo? There is a web in the center of the manifold, it should be mounted forward or preferable aft of center.

the pyro probe is mounted pre-turbo, mounted in the center of the back (towards the cab) side of the flange and about 1.5 inches toward the engine from the turbo flange, basically where the directions from Geno's Garage says to do it. Is it possible that I didn't go deep enough when I was cutting the threads with the tap? I'm on vacation right now but I'll take pictures of the setup when I get back. Thanks for the replies. TurboWine, we'll have to get together and compare notes on these trucks sometime.

Did you drill in too far and push the pyro probe against the bottom of the manifold? Just an idea.

My truck(at 5k elevation) runs 600-800 cruising, most of the time

Can get 1100 WFO

Idle is in the 300-400 range after driving it

got snow, I was thinking that could be a possibility, but I was very careful when tapping the threads, I kept pulling the tap and checking the depth. It's possible that the tip of the pyro probe is below the middle of the manifold, but I'm sure it's not touching the bottom. Any other possibilities for my low reading (if it is indeed low)?
