I have a Quad XZT box I checked codes and it shows a P0514. What is this? I have never checked codes before so I am not sure if this should be a concern or not. If this is a real code how do you clear it?

 

P0514 = Battery Temperature Sensor Performance / Rationality

Not exactly sure what that means, but it doesn't sound box related to me. It takes a scanner to clear the codes out.

 

if problem does not continue to exist it will clear itself after 50 engine starts
if engine code light does not come back on after several starts then problem is gone.

 

This is a easy one to fix. Remove drivers side battery and you will see the sensor attached to the bottom of the tray. Remove sensor clean it and the bottom of the batt tray. The tray collects a lot of road spray and crap somehow? Carefull not to lose the wavy washer that hold the sensor up to the batt. Just for the hell of it put some dielectric silicone grease on the connector and your code will be gone after 40 engine starts....hopefully
