CO2 Injection
CO2 Injection
The 2nd gen guy who's refrigerating his intake charge gave me an idea...
How about injecting dry ice into the intake; it would seriously cool the intake charge, and the oxygen would disassociate from the carbon at about 650*F to clean up all that smoke... of course the free carbon would mix with the Hydro from the water/meth nozzle(s) and form more HydroCarbon to be ignited in the cylinder.
Might even be better than nitrous!

oh, hear we go again.....haha, i have seen ricer cars and muscle cars shoot liquid CO2 through there radiator and intercooler, to cool the intake charge that way.
will the 20-40 psi in the intake charge affect disassociation in anyway? what kind of apparatus were you looking at for injecting the dry ice?

But if you injected it right into the intake, then it could disassociate the oxygen from the carbon, so the mixture could form HydroCarbons - which is well known to be a Fuel.
I could be wrong but don't many fire extinguishers use CO2 to put out fires? If it can put out fires wouldn't it be counter productive to put it into the engines combustion chamber? Wouldn't this negatively affect the fire that makes the engine actually work?
I can see using it to cool intercoolers and fuel lines but I am having a hard time seeing how you will get it to combust?

CO2 is used to extinguish fires (by suffocating the burning process) at ambient pressure and temperature - quite different from the compression-ignition combustion chamber environment...
Fair enough...would it work? Could be a cheap way to make power if it does... I can see it now under mods signature, "Custom fire extinguisher mounted under hood mod"
Just kidding, keep us posted of new info....

xlr8r, you are the most amazing person, I would just love to know how your mind works, coming up with these ideas. I think it is great, maybe some work, maybe some dont, but I think it is awesome at least someone is coming up with different ideas. What do you do for work if I may ask

my experience is that co2 extinguishes a fire by lowering the temp of the material burning, not suffocating it.
dry chem inhibits the chemical chain reaction too. just my .02brett
interesting idea btw
