I love my GL, it was modded by Mike at Radio Active Radios. It's holding up really well in my bouncy *** Ford company truck and sounds/recieves great. The Magnum might make more peak wattage, but doesn't receive as well. Also, the Magnums look cheap, IMO.

Which ever you feel does the best for you. I like the Magnum myself. I have the S-6 in my OTR w/a 450 palomar kickin it. The Magnums use a built in pre-amp on the recieve side. If you try and use it like your GL, you may not get the performance like you was seeing with the GL. Magnums are radios that you are always adjusting, mostly receive gain due to the pre-amp. You can squelch out the noise but I find you lose some of your "ears".

The GL is a nice radio, just like most of your imports. You just need a GOOD antenna is set for that radio. I have seen some antennas that the swr's are almost perfect and won't talk or receive worth a darn. Change brands and problem solved.

Good luck

I'll second this, it doesn't matter how good the radio is, your antenna can make or break a good setup. I'm having good luck with a Wilson 5000 Mag Mount.

I've got a Galaxy with the FR limited top gun modulation kit and compression kit (I installed) thats in the Magnum radios. Have quality of Galaxy and punch of a Magnum. Dead 1/2 watt swing 40w and modulation thats off the charts and loud and clear.

better 4 what? if u like the way your magnum sounds, then maybe your answer is that.if u want more CLEAR audio, then have both checked by a correct meter(bird)

perhaps the best answer will be in your speaker from your listeners!
