boost fooler question

I have an o4 with the 305hp engine, I have an edge j/a and my son had a boost fooler he didnt like on his (said he lost smoke) so he hooked it on mine. First time i drove it was yesaterday after he installed it and I only noticed 23psi boost. my questions are: What is a boost fooler for and what does it do. And what are the stock boost numbers and what are the boost numbers on my year truck with just an edge j/a? Thanks for any help here, Dale

I think the Edge Boost Fools on its own, no need for the extra 1.
if your are running higher boost then the ECM/pcm is set for you will get an over boost code, the fooler tells the computer there is less boost, then what it really is, so no codes...
if you want more boost, you probably need an adjustable boost elbow...

Some1 correct me if this is wrong... Please

Ok, if you hooked the boost fooler before the J/A on the MAP sensor all it will see is the fooled boost, assuming you are using the Attitude to monitor boost.

The J/A does its own boost fooling so an external fooler is not needed.

The 23 psi is about normal for stock on your truck, 30-32 would be tops for the stock turbo, beyond that your pushing hot air.

You will need a boost elbow to go higher than the stock 23psi for the '03-04 trucks.

And as mentioned above try not to exceed 32psi with the stock turbo. Above that the turbo pushes nothing but hot air with very little gain.
