BHAF!!! Wow! Huge!

I ordered a DuraLite BHAF yesterday and it arrived today at work... man this thing is huge. I showed it to a co-worker and he asked if I had to pull out a seat to get that thing to fit... hehe. I know they call 'em BHAF's, but I was still a bit shocked at the actual size in real-life... phew.

How much would you all estimate that this will drop EGT's w/Torque Tube?

Now, I'm going to order up a Xzillaraider Race Box and some guages... This Cummins bombing is a blast! I feel like a little kid! This thing should tow the '87 Collins 5'er I picked up last weekend no problem.

Pictures? I'm making the switch to BHAF soon and I haven't decided for sure how to stick it in there.

We just took my buddies and stuffed it down in that empty space where the air box used to be. We need to reposition it because it comes undone sometimes.

nickleinonen, I like the way you have yours setup... I'll be doing mine the same as soon at the Torque Tube shows up. Did you notice a significant drop in your EGT's after installing the BHAF?

i think i had about a 50° degree drop when i first put in the filter [while reusing the oem piping - first version i had] and i got about another 100° when i changed the piping... i don't know exactally how accurate is it, as the weather on the days i did my "test" drives was different, but right now at full load in 5th or 6th, i seem to top out at about 1100°

Let me add that mine hits the hood now because I cut the walls off the airbox and reinstalled it to keep road spray off of the filter. I got scared a couple of times when I had to drive through some high water. Now the filter sits on top of the airbox and it's about a half inch higher than before and the hood barely hits it but it's enough where I have wore a couple holes in the Outerwears cover and had to put duct tape on it!!
I installed mine along with my 4" downpipe and my temps dropped about 100 degrees. I'm not sure which helped the most though...

I like that setup you have Nick but I'm not spending any more money on my system just to get that extra turn.. Good idea though....

to get mine to fit like that, my oem air box is gone, one ear off the battery tray is removed, and the inner plastic fender is removed where the filter sits.. i had purchased steel piping [now sitting in the basement unused] to make the piping out of, but when i was mocking things up, it fit together so nicely with the 2+1 elbows that i decided to go that route... i might someday replace the steel elbow with another rubber one, and mark everything so they fit right, and bond the rubber elbows together [and a wrap of rubber around the outside] with no steel inside the coupling... but that is a project for some other day [or maybe have one made up/molded out of silicone rubber... there is a place near me that might be able to do that, for a price though...?]

I've got your BHAF

Wanna try it on a 3rd Gen, Nick? I'm working on getting pricing and availability info from Donaldson.
