Welcome to DTR rjm022,

If you haven't discovered this already you will find a LOT of valuable info on this site. However, in order for other members to help you need to tell us what truck you have and what mods you have if any, and what your trying to achieve.

sorry- i spent two hours yesterday going through 51 pages of back posts on anything to do with bhaf's. did not see anything relating to having problems with the filter or the outerwear rubbing on the alternator-that is the reason for my post. my truck is a 2004 .( i bought the correct filter) the bhaf is in. a portion of the filter rests on the alternator. i was wondering if anybody else has had a problem with heat or rubbing, causing a problem with the filter or the outerwear cover.

The problem you may have, if anything, is over time it may rub a hole through the filter. That filter will be vibrating constantly. The Outerwear cover will probably get a hole worn in it fairly quickly. The filter itself will take some time.

I used a couple pieces of rubber 2''x4," (an old mud flap), bolted together tightly, and put a zip tie between the rubber pieces, around the filter(3), and snug it up tight,

this way the filter will rest on the rubber, not melting the zip tie, or wearing through the prefilter,

I also did this on the bottom, where it rubs the aluminum turbo outlet pipe

You may also find that the front of the filter rests on one of the A/C lines. I took some heater hose and slit it down the middle and put it over the line to keep it from rubbing a hole in it.. Works great....

Did anyone happen to read the Bd twin turbo install on a 2nd gen 24 valve.
After the install - they added an AFE Intake with a prefilter - on the dyno runs they found they lost 30 % air flow from the prefilter.
30 % airflow loss due to a prefilter kind of takes away from the gains of an AFE or a BHAF. You would think.
