Lightbulb Better Air filter?

Needing to replace the air filter. Still stuck with the stock box for now.
There are some funny looking holes in the box..... anyway.

What filter to use?
Fram
Fleetguard
Airhog?
$$ K&N
ETC

Truck is 2003 with holes drilled in stock air box and airflow baffel delete replacement.

Trying to figure out how to get the muffler to "fall off"
What size is the pipe anyway? Looks larger than 3.5"?
No no no the exhaust pipe.

As for the muffler, Geno's has a muffler elimanation pipe that replaces the muff. Used it on my 04.5 and love it! (they make it for several year groups). An air chisel helps it fall off real easy

I'm using an Airaid drop in. Seems to have good flow, and filter qualities. Part No. 850-357.

I have been really impressed with my Air Raid, talk about a well made, heavy unit. Intake tubing after 4000 miles is as clean as paper filter kept it. White mark on turbo fin is unblemished. I bet the Air Raid filter weighs 3+ times more than the stocker did, and has a great heavy duty rubber seal around the edges.

I have an AirAid kit with the big honkin' oval cone filter. I had it on there for a while before I got the prefilter for it and when I took it off to clean it before I put the new prefilter on, it looked brand new on the inside. No dust of any kind inside. I put the prefilter on to keep the bushes and critters out of the pleats. I figure it will make it easier to clean next time too.

I wonder if there would be any warranty issues with the AirAid kit?

Volant Cool Air= All The Way the filter pleats on the cone filter are deeper and taller than most out their and the cone is longer / larger giving moor air volume to the truck. And I can hear the turbo much moor pronounced now. on spool up.

Dave65,
I bought mine at the dealer through a rebate promotion. They told me that it wouldn't cause an warrenty issue. They did not recommend K&N except for the cleaning kit and oiler. As clean as it keeps the air, there shouldn't be an issue.

For now the aFe drop in with Pro-7 is a good choice until you get the Scotty Ram Air III with 2-stage foam element.
