looking for a programmer for my new 2004 2500 hd ,truck is all stock ,do some towing now and then what's gives the best performance and keeps the tranny in one piece .

look in the classifieds here,u can get a predator for half of smarty.they work well on the 03 04s,no probs with mine for almost 2 years,makes great power too

 

first thing you need to do is figure out if you have an 04, or an 04.5......... on the drivers side of the "valvecover" is a sticker, with rated hp, if it says rated 325 hp you have a 2004.5 model, and choices can be quite different than that for an 04 truck, the o4 will 9 times out of 10 get better fuel mileage.

 

It says ISB 325 so it's a 04.5

 

That's good - you have 4" exh. and a better turbo than the 03-04.4 305s. I love my Diablo Predator. The tow tune is 60 hp but it's only a teaser. The 100 hp is also the economy tune and it's perfect for towing and street and it does some tq. mgnt. below ~1500 rpm to save the drivetrain. My egt maxxes at ~1225 so I don't have to worry about heat. It also has crazy wild tunes, if you dare! The U7130 Predator is for 03-05. I don't know why it works on early 325s and not late ones. well 04.5, then you shuld look into the smarty, s06 pod is the cream of the crop, and you can do a lot of upgrades n your truck, and not out grow the programmer.

 

I am a little confused ,we looked ad my truck today and also take a look ad the 2003 my friend have and the turbo's look the same ,he told me that the 325 have a electronic controled waste gate and the 305's a mechanical one.

my engine sticker say it's a isb 325 but have a mechanical waste gate maybe the changed the valve cover or something ,anybody who can clear something out ,I want to know for sure so I buy the right programmer and don't want to mess up the ecm .

Yea the 04.5 and up will have the HE351 instead of the 341, 351 has the electronic boost sensor, way better turbo 60/60/9, if i rem right. If you wanna keep it safe look into the edge ez, sold the smarty and bought one of those for mine and couldn't be happier!

 

Look at the sticker inside the driver side door, if the build date is after Jan of 04, you have an 04.5.

 

it says may 04 so that's clear only the waste gate is mechanical

 

Maybe it isn't a stock turbo? Did you buy the truck new? Look though the passenger side wheel well at the side of the turbo. There should be a manufacturers plate that could tell you what it is if it's aftermarket. Either way, you need a programmer for an 04.5.

After a lot of brainstorming and treid the diablo sport of a friend of mine decided to go for the smarty s-06 POD due to the fact you can chance the tq management .

Got the smarty today and loaded #5 wich is a real differents whit the diablo on extreme ,love the smarty allready after 1 hour !!
