Best MPG program/tunner/downloader shoot-out?

I was wondering if there was anywhere in a magazine or on the internet where somebody tested different programs for best MPG. Just turning through the pages of Diesel Power magazine there are probably no less than 30 different advertisements claiming increases in power and mileage. What one actually works? I have a juice with attitude that gives me 0 mpg increase even on the mileage setting. There are so many out there, that I would like to see a shoot-out between the top 10 or 15 on the same truck, same driving distance, speed etc to see if any actually work. Maybe I will send in a request to Diesel Power magazine to do this instead of another 5 page article on an easy intake/exhaust bolt on!

Don't know how well that would work. As we have seen here that trucks perform different to the same module or downloader. So what may work good on one truck may not on another.
So what has to be established is a baseline with at least 5 vehicles, so an overall average can be calculated with all the variations.

What a pain in the rear! I don't have the time or ambition to try 30 differnt programs on my truck to find one that works. Shipping prices will kill me in the try it for 30 day trials! Nothing worse than buying something that does not live up to the claims.

In my own personal tests....Edge EZ = No mileage increase, Quad XZT (Standard tune and Stacker tune) = No mileage increase, Triple Dog = No mileage increase....but with the Smarty, a solid 1.5-2 MPG increase depending on how I drive.

Best mileage I ever got before the Smarty was 17.6 (hand-calculated of course) and that was completely stock except for intake/exhaust mods even stock wheels/tires...

I guess you just have to take our word ( that's what we're here for) and get a Smarty. Do a little research. You'll find it very appealing...and satisfying.

I can second this statement. Juice/attitude no MPG, MP-8 no MPG , Crazy Larry 1-1.5 MPG gain.

I miss ol' Crazy Larry, we had some good times!

Crazy Larry ain't so Crazy anymore. Wonder what Bullydogs future holds....I hear of tunable parameters, but how longs that gonna take to get right?!

On further note, I'm not really trying to cheer for Smarty...I just enjoy it that much!!! that and Bullydog never worked good on my truck anyways, got more power out of the six-gun.

Compared to my current stack, Crazy Larry fueled a lot harder on top and let me rev my engine to 3500 rpm. Now it feels like 2700 is the peak power. Having a stick, I liked being able to rev so high when needed.

Bully will tell you the 305/555 motors did not benefit like the 325/610's did. It was pretty mean and got better fuel economy.

That's very true. I don't knock Bullydogs rep, they've had some issues, and for that they are doing the right thing for the public. What the future holds is gonna be my deciding factor. I also don't have an 05, so I will never say Crazy Larry sucks, because I don't know.

Good to see Buddy back too.

I don't think your truck could handle the true Hp of crazy larry either. No big clutch, no charger, = not enough air and or drivetrain lost from clutch slippage. Tunable parameters that will be extremly nice. Adjust how much horspower in what areas.
By the way I see about a 1.5mpg increase running with the bully dog. Average about 20mpg. If I can keep my foot out of it.
