Best drop in Air Filter?

Hey all, Im looking to do a little intake mod. I was wondering what you's think would be a good, high-flow, re-usable drop-in air filter. I am not looking to get a whole intake kit, I am getting the 5.5 intake tubing from that Airflow place, and drill a few holes in the stock box, and wanted to put in a good filter. Ive seen on here some things about some green filter or something?? Any help in making a good choice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

ive got the green air cone filter on my intake. It semms to do it job because it gets pretty dirty quick, but i drive lots of dirt roads. I have been told that k&n lets to much dirt through.

I just modded up about 3 mos. ago & did some research. If you're interested
in flow I would go w/ AFE ProGuard 7. If you're interested in absolute filtration
I would go w/Amzoil ea air filter. It has nanofiber technology: a fancy term for filtering out everything but germs. A human hair is supposed to be something like 40-50 microns. This ea air filter is supposed to filter particles
as small as 3-4 microns. Kinda makes me wonder how restrictive it is on air.
I run it & my truck has turbo whine when I get on it & I have silencer ring intact.

I would go with the AFE proguard 7 drop in and then add a PSMBuick cold air kit instead of cutting a bunch of holes in the bottom of the air box. You can just cut one four inch hole and add the hose. It works great a bunch of guys on this site have it and feel its worth the expense.

Badd Dogg Guy19,

Take a look at the AFE Pro Guard Super Stock kits. They get you a drop in PG7 filter, that stops the dirt and flows the air, an intake tube (Torque Tube) to the turbo and the various clamps and hoses. Best value if you want to upgrade but not replace the entire system.

Now there is a system that sounds like its worth the money! WHY do people
spend $3-400 for similar systems?

Have you had any problems with water getting into the airbox with that setup? I realize the intake is before the front wheels, but still.... Just curious.

I'm not using the stock box, but so far no water. The tube is three feet long and sits six inches higher than the bumber, so I don't expect any problems, According to the site it been tested in some harsh conditions. The only problem I see is off roading behind someone else. You own dust gets kicked up behind you. The good thing about the S&B box is the see through top. After a couple of rainy days I just pop the hood. No water.
We usually learn our expensive lessons right after we (I) spend the money. But such is life.
