Thumbs up BD Extreme setting question

Can I use the Bully Dog Extreme setting on a stock '06 for short 0-60 runs? I know the EGTs will rocket up if I run it very far like that, but I just wanted to feel what its like during short runs. Anything detrimental about that?

Thanks guys!

The reason nobody is responding is because, you are risking your trans! Anybody in their right mind, should'nt say it's "ok".

Well it depends on your extreme setting. if you have the 130 extreme setting then oh yeah run it through the 1/4 mile. Wont get too hot.

If you have crazy larry i would stop at 50mph and assume what the 0-60 would be. my CL got extremely hot very quick. Pegging a 1600 degree gauge by 60mph was easily doable.

I would be running the standard Extreme setting that comes with the box. I think thats the 100hp or 130hp setting. I wont be taking this to the track, but I may be coerced into a 0-60 run to "show off" to a buddy.

Thanks Stroke!

I have done one run of Extreme up to about 60... and one from 60 to about 100 my truck didnt really like it and smelt kinda funny afterwards... but hey - do as you choose. I was warned against the perf setting without gauges to monitor the damage being done! So for now I just stay in tow untill I see a victim... then who knows where I will set it!

HotrodK, You keep asking the same question and when you don't like the answer, you keep asking until someone says what you want to hear? Go ahead then let her rip...

OK thanks for your (lack of) input Herb. Bye bye!

To the others who gave me some valuable info, Thank you. Im not going to do anything that may damage this truck, so thats why Im asking questions. I guess some people dont remember what its like to have to learn about a diesel.

I have been running the Extreme setting from day 1. Just use a little common sense and you wont have any problems. I floor it when I want, I pull my boat when I want, and I never change the setting. The box works great, you'll love it.

Thanks Black Dog. Do you have a EGT gauge in your truck?

No I don't, but I have several buddies with EGT gauges so I just use their Dodges as a reference. They pull a lot more weight than I ever have, and no problems yet. They say EGTS aren't a concern if you drive it right. And if you are concerned when you're pulling just adjust the setting back too tow.

2 stroke dont be worried about performance mode and EGT's. 1450 is the most you will see on performance mode and that is perfectly fine. i ran it on performance for months without an EGT gauge.
