Valvoline Extreme

Since Premium Blue 2000 is no longer available, I made the switch to Valvoline Extreme (synthetic replacement for PB2000). First impressions are: Quieter engine at road speed and better fuel mileage. So far in my weekly round trip to Savannah, I got 2mpg more. I'm going to equate part of that to lack of wind this trip. But at 535 miles, I still have 3/8 tank of fuel left. That's on the gauge and you know how fast the needle moves once you go below half. My computer is close on the mileage and it is up a full 2mpg. A little correlation for the engine not working as hard is that at 70 mph I'm usually doing 5-6 psi boost. This trip, I was staying at 4-5 psi (Digital guage, no interpretation required). EGT was lower at 575-600 versus my usual 650 at cruise speed. Just some initial observations on the synthetic. I'm sure Amsoil and others would probably provide the same results.

Re:Valvoline Extreme

Did the same thing on the Val. ex. I am doing extended drain I went 5000 miles then changed the filter, topped off the oil and now I am on the second 5000. Oil Looked good. Gonna do a test of the oil at the end of the 5000 and see what it says. I think I am getting better mileage but it is hard to tell when I just got the edge EZ and have been having fun with the extra power ;D<br>

Re:Valvoline Extreme

Find the Valvoline Distributor in your area they have it. I think it was almost double the reg oil.

I bought two cases with other stuff (a bunch of other stuff) and I can't remember but I know it was expensive. I believe it was $16/gallon. But no more expensive than other synthetics. I'll check and get back to you on the price.
